Exclusive: "Full House" Cast and Producers Mulling a Revival
Aug 26, 2014 by Michael Schneider Could a "Full House" return be in the works? The family sitcom, which aired on ABC from 1987 to 1995, is still a ratings juggernaut via repeats on Nick at Nite. Now Warner Bros. TV is mulling a new take on "Full House", with some of the original cast intact. Leading the charge is John Stamos (Uncle Jesse) — who has an ownership stake in the show, which gives him good reason to champion the new series. Original executive producer Bob Boyett and creator Jeff Franklin (who's writing the new version) are actively involved. Candace Cameron Bure (D.J.), Jodie Sweetin (Stephanie) and Andrea Barber (Kimmy) are on board, while Bob Saget (Danny) and Dave Coulier (Joey) are also involved in some way. The cast has remained tight-knit and some of the actors have let it slip in the past that they'd like to see "Full House" return. Stamos, Coulier and Saget appeared in a yogurt commercial earlier this year, and also showed up on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" dressed as their Full House characters. Appearing on "Bravo's Watch What Happens Live" this past winter, Stamos hinted that a "Full House" revisit was being pondered: "We're sort of working on a twist on a sequel," he told host Andy Cohen. "But we don't know if it's going to happen yet or not." In 2009, Stamos also told the press that a "Full House" movie had been developed. Insiders say the studio pitched a "Full House" revival last year that would have been set up like FX's "Anger Management", in which the network that airs it must pick up a 90-episode slate (produced at an accelerated pace) if the initial 10 episodes hit a certain rating. Ultimately that idea didn't pan out, but as new generations continue to discover "Full House", there's no doubt a reboot would generate loads of interest. http://www.tvguide.com/News/Full-Hou...l-1086245.aspx |

This is such an obvious idea that I'm surprised it hasn't happened yet. Full House has never left the air since the late '80s, it's an obvious choice for revival.

“Full House” was already a throwback sitcom when it premiered in 1987. So it would be even more out of place if it were to be revived. Read more at http://www.hitfix.com/tv-tattle#QUM2XeF9fTb4JgCh.99 |

My guess, it becomes a TV series like girl meets world.
The main stars would be DJ, Stephanie and Kimmy. Who knows how they'd work a story with just those 3? My first guess, DJ is single after Steve dies and raises her kids with the help of Stephanie and Kimmy, or maybe Steve goes away for a long time, leaving DJ and the family alone...maybe he's directing movies in Japan, and can't be home, maybe gets small guest spots from time to time when he's home on vacation between films. But I strongly doubt they would go in that direction, it would be an insult to the original, especially if DJ is divorced from him or if Steve died. Another scenario is I could see DJ and Stephanie living in the same house. DJ is married to Steve. Stephanie is divorced, maybe her husband left her or he died, and she has a kid/kids as well. Kimmy lives next door, either by herself, or with her new family. Visitors would be Danny, Joey, Jessie, Rebecca, and even Michelle at times. By now, their kids would be 10+ years old if DJ/Stephanie had any in the mid 2000s or even prior to that. Of course they would be in a new neigborhood and house in San Fransisco, as Danny either still lives at the other house or he moved to a smaller place after the girls grew up. It's quite possible we won't see the old Full House set, even if they re-built it. By now, it would be assumed, that everyone moved out after they finished college/got married/et. 100% chance it won't be on ABC, and if it is, ABC would not stand for opening credits, ending credits, even live in front of a studio audience with laugh track. Small possibility they would, but if they're smart, they'd put the show on Disney. Girl Meets World has a nice opening credit sequence, which we don't see anymore with laugh track shows, and it has the same feel as BMW from the early 90s. If I had to guess, it will go on either Disney, TV Land, or Nick At Nite, but it would be best going back to ABC Friday Nights and they could begin the TGIF all over again and bring back sitcoms they way they used to be. If they used the same theme song, they should re-record it, of course, making it more hipper and for today. |

This could be a lot of fun- if it's done right. I trust Bob Boyett and Jeff Franklin and John Stamos and the rest of the cast would make sure any new TV-movie, movie version, TV series, etc. would stay true to the original series. I would hate to see a revival version that became some kind of dark parody or something.
I have been immensely enjoying the "Girl Meets World" series spinoff from "Boy Meets World"- if a "Full House" revival/spinoff etc. can keep to those levels, I will be happy with it. I think they should definitely get Scott Weigner involved too if possible because I feel many fans would want to see DJ married to Steve. I imagine Stephanie would be married at this point and Michelle would probably be married by now too. I wonder if Danny and Vicky would be married too? And maybe Joey would have found a wife now too? It will definitely be interesting to see where this goes from here. |

Danny being married to Vicky (if not her, then to Gia's Mom) and DJ married to Steve are what FANS WANT TO SEE!
I think Kimmy should be married to Duane. It should stay very true to the original, with any format they do the new production in. But my guess is, those few actresses who want to take part in it are going to be the stars, and if it becomes a series, guest spots will happen with all the others who were a part of the cast of the original. That way they can do other projects or just do a few episodes here and there and not be there for the entire run. |

I might be in the minority, but personally, I don't think they should bring back all of original cast, just a few. In order to keep the show fresh, I think the main original characters should be DJ, Stephanie, and Kimmy Kibbler (the three that showed the most interest in doing the show), with Danny, Joey, Uncle Jesse, etc. being recurring characters or guest stars. The show could focus on DJ, Stephanie, and even Kimmy's children. If you brought back to much of the original cast, it would be very difficult to bring in new characters without the cast becoming overwhelming.

On the other hand why would a revival be needed, how many groups of large families are currently out there before getting on each others nerves? and all sharing one bathroom? PEEYEW!!

If a new Full House show of any form is done, I would love to see Mary-Kate & Ashley be a part of it, but sadly I guess that they do not want to be in the acting world again since it was never their idea to be in it the first time.
God bless you and them always!!! ![]() Holly (a day one fan of the girls) |

^^^ I just now saw the write up that your link is for. It didn't mention the guy that D.J. went with, Steve. I would want them to be married if a reunion of some form were to be done.
God bless you always!!! ![]() Holly P.S. I would also want Danny and Vicky to be married too. She would have been a great mom to the girls. |

I don't see why everyone has to be married to the exact same person they were with on the show. While I can buy D.J. marrying Steve, I can't imagine Kimmy marrying Duane (mostly because the actor who played Duane probably wouldn't want to do the reboot especially considering he was only on 3 episodes late in the series run) or Danny being with Vicky (especially since she left the series about a year and a half before the series ended).
But I agree with the poster who said the show should just revolve around D.J., Stephanie and Kimmy and have Danny, Jesse and Joey make guest appearances so that the show wouldn't be cluttered with unnecessary cast members as the show will inevitably have new characters. I think that would be pretty interesting to see. D.J., Stephanie and Kimmy could make a great trio and I enjoyed their scenes together on Full House so I think that could be great. But I'm still wondering if this is a rumor or not. I heard it confirmed by pretty much everyone except for the ACTUAL CAST. While I have heard the cast members say that they would have no problem reprising their roles in past interviews, I haven't heard Candace Cameron, Jodie Sweetin, Andrea Barber or anyone else confirm this. But maybe I'm not looking hard enough. There is probably zero chance of either of the Olsen twins coming back to play Michelle, whether it's a guest spot or regular role, so I'm worried about how that would affect the younger fans of the show who would watch this considering Michelle is the most popular character. I think the show should air on Nick at Nite since Full House is currently airing there. They could the new show at 8:00 and the old show at 8:30. |

Though the original cast seems to have interest...Make-Kate and Ashley may NOT be there...maybe It'll be like this....
Sorry to be cynical, but that's what the reunion may be like. |
