Sundance Cancels "Rectify"
Sundance Renews "Rectify" for Season 3
Aug 19, 2014 by Liz Raftery Sundance has renewed "Rectify" for a third season, the network announced Tuesday. An episode count has not been announced — the first season consisted of six episodes; the second, 10 — but Season 3 will premiere in 2015. "Rectify has evolved into a show much loved by critics and fans," Sundance TV President Sarah Barnett said in a statement. "As SundanceTV's first scripted series, it's gratifying to see such distinctive and unusual storytelling embraced with such passion. Ray McKinnonis a true television auteur, and we can't wait to see where he takes us next." http://www.tvguide.com/News/Rectify-...e-1085676.aspx |

"Rectify" Renewed for Fourth Season on SundanceTV
by Erik Pedersen July 8, 2015 A day before the Season 3 premiere of "Rectify", SundanceTV has ordered a fourth year of its signature drama. No episode count was given for the fourth season, which will premiere in 2016. “Even in an increasingly crowded field of dramas on television, Rectify has established itself as something special,” said Charlie Collier, President of SundanceTV and AMC. “Rectify has had such a huge impact in establishing SundanceTV as a home for high-quality, intelligent drama.” The Peabody Award-winning tells the story of Daniel Holden (Aden Young), who is released after serving nearly 20 years in isolation on death row and returns to his small hometown in Georgia and must cope with being an outsider to his family, his community and the times. http://deadline.com/2015/07/rectify-...ng-1201472350/ |

That the Sundance show is getting a fourth season is a testament to how the TV industry has changed, allowing a quiet show to breathe, says David Sims. "Toiling away on the Sundance Channel, the Southern Gothic tale of a man freed from death row after 19 years has received the kind of rave reviews that keep a show on the air despite desperately low ratings,” he says. PLUS: Rectify’s storytelling is radical, and Ray McKinnon explains why six episodes is perfect for a Rectify season. |

Sundance Cancels "Rectify"
by Malclom Venable 1/8/16 "Rectify", SundanceTV's first scripted show and breakout hit, will end this fall with its fourth season, the network announced Friday. The cult hit, a 2015 Peabody Award winner, stars Aden Young as Daniel Holden, a man released from prison after serving nearly 20 years on death row. "There is no perfect 'end' for this story nor for these characters," series creator Ray McKinnon said in a statement. "They will continue to live on. We just won't document them any longer. And the timing of this 'non-end' end feels exactly right. SundanceTV has been a dream to work with on this journey; I am so grateful to have been allowed the freedom to tell the tale I wanted to tell in the way I felt it should be told with the mad and beautiful collaborators who joined me on the ride." No word on how the series might conclude, but AMC Networks President and General Manager Charlie Collier teased a potential whopper of an ending. "We're looking forward to giving Rectify the send-off it deserves," he said. http://www.tvguide.com/news/sundance-cancels-rectify/ |
