Default Did Susan Lucci have Sarah Michelle Gellar fired from “All My Children”?

http://www.usmagazine.com/celebrity-...ffin-j-2014236

Kathy Griffin joked about the alleged firing at the Daytime Emmy Awards.

I have heard this rumor for years. It was common knowledge that Susan didn't care for Sarah, though I'm not sure she would have gone so far as to have her fired. Ultimately, it didn't hurt Sarah's career, and she has gone on to bigger & better things, obviously...

I also heard that too. I would think whatever problem they had has been smoothed over because didnt Sarah appear on AMC with Susan before the show got cancelled?

SMG came back to AMC, but didn't share any screentime w/ Lucci.

im new to this forum as of today. but i have a question. since this is a soap thread, i was wondering if there was ever a scandal involving michael tylo and tom neilsen over lisa brown from guiding light. i read a long time ago she left tom for michael. but michael didnt want to leave his wife. and were there tensions on the EON set with sharon gabet?

That's news to me. If it's true they didn't get along I've only heard Sarah Michelle Gellar say nice things about Susan Lucci. I can't remember that I've heard Susan Lucci say anything good or bad about Sarah Michelle Gellar. Lucci has always seemed to me to be a lovely and gracious woman though.

There has never been any proof of an actual feud between the two, simply a lot of rumors and conjecture. I've only ever heard nice things about Susan Lucci.

I have heard rumors of SMG being somewhat difficult to work with, particularly in the final few years of Buffy.

Personally, I think if there was a feud, it was probably a small one that has gotten hyped up over the years. I have heard the only source of tension between the two stemmed from Gellar who was 15 at the time, was playing a 25 year old and was in the majority of her scenes with adults and simply at times didn't fit in on-set.

I'm surprise there's rumors of SMG being difficult to work with on Buffy since she's friends with her costars. She's reunited with most of the cast since Buffy ended. The only real difficult she had with Buffy was in the sixth season. She voiced that it was too dark and not what she wanted fans to see. She made it really clear she hated the storyline that year.

As for her feud with Susan Lucci, I don't think there is much of a feud. I think Susan was bitter that she didn't get a daytime emmy when SMG got one on her second nomination and wanted SMG off the show. It did good for SMG because she became a household name and an icon in the horror genre during Buffy's run while Susan stayed a soap opera actress. I'm glad Susan continued acting after AMC was canceled because you can see she's better at comedy than drama.

I think majority of the gossip with SMG being difficult is made up crap since she has a quiet life with her husband and children. She played a few bad girl roles in some of the work she's done and people probably want to emphasize on that in the press claiming that's what she's really like when she's not.

We also have to keep in mind that on Buffy, SMG had a lot of pressure on her as the lead actress of the show. She worked really long hours and also at the time had a somewhat thriving film career as well. So the pressure of long hours probably got to her.

Also, there was speculation that by the end she wanted off the show as she had tired of the character.

How could Sarah play a 25 year old if she was only 15? I mean I hope she wasnt in any kissing scenes with any adults.

Kendall was aged rapidly. When she first started on the show she was 15/16, but then the character was rapidly aged to match what would have been her real birth date in 1970.

This is from Wikipedia and explains it "When Kendall first appears on the show in 1993, she is 16 years old, portrayed by a then 16-year-old (or 15-year-old[11]) Sarah Michelle Gellar.[8] This was despite the fact that Kendall was conceived when Erica was raped at the age of 14 before the show began in 1970 (23 years earlier).[7][8] Fans protested the age differences due to the changes making Erica and Kendall too young compared to Erica's original 1955 birth year. In response to this, the show's producers rapidly aged Kendall to 23, which moved Erica's birth year one year forward to 1956.[8]"

I don't remember if she had kissing scenes with adults, I am too young to remember, but if she did, remember that stage kissing isn't real, most of the time the actors mouths don't even touch... And a lot of it, especially on daytime is alluded to but never seen, they pan away or fade out.

Well after seeing all the get together's she does with her former costars from multiple movies and shows she's been on, I highly doubt SMG is difficult to be around. Not only does she reunite with her Buffy costars time to time, she recently reunited with her Cruel Intentions costars.

Here's a video interview from 2002 where SMG talks about her time on AMC. She doesn't say anything bad about Susan; just that they didn't have a great working relationship and that tabloids love to build stuff up. If it was really that bad, I don't understand why SMG would say she would do it all over again. I don't believe Susan and Sarah hate each other the way tabloids and dramatic fans make it out to be.
