Default Is it me or was Aunt Viv (2) always mad at Uncle Phil?

When I watch the Seasons 1-3 episodes, I see Philip and Vivian (1) and they have such wonderful chemistry. There were episodes where Vivian (1) got mad at him, but most of the time, they were lovey-dovey and seemed like a wonderful couple.

When I watch the Seasons 4-6 episodes, I see Philip and Vivian (2) and it seems like Vivian (2) always had an attitude with him. While his chemistry with her wasn't as good as with Vivian (1), they did make a cute couple and I don't see why the writers always wanted to make her mad at him constantly, aside from a few occasions. When the Season 4 Valentine's Day episode, Vivian (2) gets on my nerves. Why is it always the man's job to make Valentine's Day plans in TV shows? But that's a whole other subject. All of Vivian (2)'s storylines (if she ever got any) involved her getting upset with Philip.

Just an observation. What do you guys think?

Trying to make her sassy like the original vivian is the only reason I can think of

I think the one and only time Vivian 2 had a right to get mad at Philip was when he was considering running for political office without consulting her. Overall, I liked Vivian 1 much better.

The thing is Vivian became such a wasted character. I liked Daphne Maxwell Reid as Vivian (not nearly as much as I liked Janet Hubert-Whitten as Vivian though) and there were so many things they could've done with the character after she was replaced. In my eyes, Daphne Maxwell Reid proved she was capable of playing Vivian well in the "Breaking Up Is Hard to Do" 2-parter when she was chewing Philip out. But it's like the writers stopped trying with the character. Vivian (2) was just there.

It's the same thing with Becky from Roseanne. I liked the original Becky better of course, but when the character was replaced, the second actress wasn't bad but the writers just stopped trying with the character. I guess writers just try not to draw attention to replace characters.

They should never had replaced her in the first place. I hate when shows recast a character.

Now that you mention it, yeah, Aunt Vivian 2 always did seem to be irked with Uncle Phil, even for very minor reasons, such as when he bought that motorcycle in Season 4 due to his mid-life crisis. I didn't like the first Aunt Vivian that much though, mainly because she was always going on these pro-black rants about being a strong "African American Woman". Those were always really unnecessary and lame, frankly. All things considered, I sort of like Aunt Vivian 2 better because she was less frantic and more controlled.

Vivian 2 also had a right to be mad at Phil in the episode, when a very flirtatious former friend came to visit and Phil was obviously attracted to her (Will even had sex with this woman, despite the fact that he was dating her daughter!)

I know Vivian 1 is more funnier than Vivian 2. But there one big problem about Vivian 1:

Vivian 1 cannot control her anger at the same time as Phil.

Actually, Phil is funny and he knows how to control his anger than Vivian 1.

Question What if the new Aunt Vivian had the same personality as the old one...

...would you have liked her, or nah?
