Default TV Land’s “Jennifer Falls”: Great cast, not-so-great script

http://www.nytimes.com/2014/06/04/ar...e-pressly.html

The sitcom premiering tonight boasts a big-name cast of Jaime Pressly, her “My Name is Earl” co-star Ethan Suplee, Missi Pyle, Jeffrey Tambor and his “Arrested Development” co-star Jessica Walter. Yet “Jennifer Falls” has some of the years’ worst sitcom lines. PLUS: “Jennifer” is TV Land’s first sitcom without a laugh track, and Pressly on “Earl” vs. “Jennifer."

Seems like another single camera comedy and doesn't look funny, I'll pass.

From the previews it looked so-so but it was better than I thought it would be.

I hope that this show along with all future TV Land originals fail miserably!

I saw the show and enjoyed it. I am a fan of My Name is Earl, and the show had Jaime Pressley and Ethan Suplee in it. The mother is played by the same actress who plays the mother on Arrested Development. I am a big fan of Jeffrey Tambor and he was in the opening scene as the boss who fires the Jaime Pressley character, I hope to see him again, but probably not.

To me, the best shows are on the Big Four networks and the more premium cable channels like AMC. Stuff that comes from TV Land and Netflix to me are rejects from the Big 4 AMC/HBO etc.

Also WHY is TV Land making their own TV series?? The whole idea of TV Land is to show classic reruns of TV series. Why make their own shows? I guess there is money in it, but still.

Missi Pyle went to the same high school as myself, but I graduated two years before she started school there (I graduated in 1985, she graduated in 1991). I found her ninth grade picture in a yearbook. (Germantown High School)

Chris Parnell also went to that school and am sort of flabbergasted that he has done as well as he had. I did not know him well, he was a friend of a friend, I sort of pegged him as someone who would have been a teacher or professor of arts and acting, or do voice over work like his father in Memphis.

I like this show and hope it succeeds.

The show is okay. I really like that the show has no laugh tracks. I HATE laugh tracks. IMO, Jennifer Falls is a better show than Hot In Cleveland.

I have seen all the episodes and I liked the show. Felt there were funny lines and situations. My only fault is, the daughter of Jennifer. How old is Jennifer? Her daughter looks to be late teens. I expected to see a blond daughter. I thought maybe Jennifer is 35 at the most and the daughter looks much older than 12. As for Jaime, she can pull off looking darn good in whatever she wears.
