Mindy Kaling, Chris Messina and Ike Barinholtz should stay. But everything else — including the premise — should be gone next season. Because she's no longer believable as a doctor. |

It is too soon for a reboot, The FOX network is under a bad recession this season and it has to forcely order all FOX shows, including this one, to appraise more focus on both all men and all older people, that's why!
I know the supporting cast is not that important, but the supporting cast cannot be completely wasted with too many broadened independencies. |

http://www.vulture.com/2014/05/mindy...wo-finale.html
Last night’s finale was a full-on mashup of “You’ve Got Mail” and “Sleepless in Seattle.” PLUS: The perfect ending revealed the show’s fatal flaw, Chris Messina on the finale, and maybe “Mindy” will improve without the “Boyfriend of the Week." They just need to slow down on the Mindy's men situation a little bit, so the ratings will never go down.
The supporting cast needs to get fixed and return to a full season order. Zoe Jarman has to stay in this show as a reduced guest. Anna Camp and Amanda Setton should return to this show as reduced guests, so this show can stay alive. There is no doubt, because since even if Anna Camp is appearing any bigger projects or not along the way and Amanda Setton's new project has been officially cancelled after one season. They need to hurry up and add that cranky old man doctor character in this show's main cast, so 1.) Beverly can gain some more relief along the way on her own company level 2.) young adult characters and fans will surrender to both cranky old characters and show better respect and 3.) more important this cranky old man doctor can make this show survive more longer with better viewership, ratings and criticism received and appraised. Later on, they will add an young erratic woman nurse character in as a recurring guest so the interaction will get strongly connected. Finally, Zoe, Anna, Amanda and the actress, who plays that young erratic woman nurse character will get added as part of this show's main cast afterwards. We know that FOX had a general financial network collapsing incident right now and they know that member Kevin O'Reilly was the cause. Kevin is finally pinkslipped, but this pinkslipped situation should never cancel this show at all. The new replacement of Kevin will help this show survive longer, no doubt, no offense. |

About this "cranky old man doctor" character you are suggesting, if we get anyone "old" to be on the main cast of a TV show, there's always the potential for him passing away from natural causes while that TV show's run is still ongoing (yes, I have already had this thought in the past). Marcia Wallace passed away last year (at 71 years old) while The Simpsons's original run was still ongoing.
You're saying that this can help this show survive longer? If it was me, I'd rather have that doctor character be in his 50s. |

James28:
Do not ever mention "Passed away with natural causes" at all. This phase of yours will ruined this show completely. This show needs both strong important good criticism, good viewership and good ratings by adding this cranky old man doctor character in it so is can survive longer. All those strict TV critics watching this show has to be most of the time both ALL men and ALL older people. But of course, both Beverly and that cranky old man doctor character has to be in their upper 50s, which is no doubt. But we still have to keep Zoe Jarman as a reduced guest and we still have to bring back Anna Camp and Amanda Setton to this show as reduced guests, even if they are doing other bigger projects or not. Later on, we will add a final character, which is a young erratic woman nurse as a recurring guest. Finally those four women will be added as part of the main cast by later next season once for all. You need to obey me just for now, James28. |

Oh, sorry, I meant the actor playing that "cranky old man doctor" character should be in his 50s.

That actor, who will play that cranky old man doctor, should be one year older than actress Beth Grant, but if necessary, they both actress Beth Grant and that actor have to be around in their upper 50s of age. If they both are around their 60s, then they both should try to act like a decade younger as 50-year-olds.

^^For the record. Beth Grant was born in September of 1949, so she'll already be 65 this year. (And she looks fairly attractive for that age, also.) Sorry if I thought for a second thinking that the suggestion about a "cranky old man" character would turn The Mindy Project into another Phyllis.
(Phyllis was a spin-off of the early-to-mid-1970s sitcom The Mary Tyler Moore Show with Cloris Leachman reprising her Phyllis Lindstrom character from TMTMS. During the show's second season, there were two senior citizen characters which were married on one of the episodes; Their actors (who were in their upper-80s and lower 90s) have passed away within a month of said episode's airing.) |

Even if both Beth and that new cranky old actor are in their 60s, they both have to act in their upper 50s on their own roles. Adding a cranky old man character will not make it into too much of a Phyllis in this show. But this character should help give Beth's character some more relief and both cranky old characters can help this show both gain 1.) more important good criticism and 2.) more viewers and ratings along the way. That's an important order and we are running out of time if you object. But anyhow, most of this show's main cast will be younger adult characters. We want to prove that Zoe Jarman stays in this show as reduced guest. It was a bad mistake to let go off both Anna Camp and Amanda Setton from this show. The creative difference and budgetary cut incidents were both unnecessary inexcusable because it will destroy the ROMEDY in this show. As a matter of fact, both Anna and Amanda should have been reduced as guests in the middle of season 1 rather than of getting let go of this show. |

What do you think if I were to have a cartoon voice actor to play this "old man doctor" on camera? Like Billy West, Rob Paulsen, or maybe even Frank Welker?

I was thinking more of first trying Frank Welker as a current choice for now.
