The acclaimed astronomer talks to viewers like their little kids, and the entire presentation is too cartoonish. Read more at http://www.hitfix.com/tv-tattle#VgeIvhpl3JMpRWhF.99 |

i loved watching the original Cosmos as a kid, and rewatching the marathon they had before the new series' premiere proved to me that the original did hold up.
...of course I spent half the time trying to mimic Carl Sagan's weird voice, and I enjoy watching science stuff. the new show isn't as good; it doesn't quite capture the sense of wonder that the original series had, but I'm not sure that Neil deGrasse Tyson is the reason. the "spaceship of the imagination" concept is a little childish - I'd rather they focus on the information, and if they are going to go to the trouble of animating things they should save it for the science. |

A respectable 3.5 million tuned in for the Seth MacFarlane project starring Neil deGrasse Tyson. Read more at http://www.hitfix.com/tv-tattle/5#yiJ8MOlrgmmXkCrV.99 |

I tuned in only for the first episode. I had the same reaction; anyone who has taken science classes already knows this material, and it sounded like he was talking down to the audience.
