It seems that the sitcom and its humor still holds up in today's time. I think it is a brilliant piece of work.

I guess it all boils down to if you like the show or not. To some people, they love it and to some, they hate it. Personally, I think it's still funny today. Bar humor is something that will never fade and for the most part always stays the same.

Looking at it today IMO, it hasn't aged well. The characaters except for Frasier,Woody,Lillith are likeable and the situations got stupid after season 5.

Hallmark Channel airs two episodes per night, and last week the show flipped over to the pilot. I think it still holds up very well even after thirty years.
The first couple of episodes were a bit clunky, and Danson's hair was not good, but the show hit its groove very early. |

It holds up perfectly, it still remains for me one of the best sitcoms of the 80's, and of all time. All seasons are good from beginning to end.

I think it holds up...
I like it WAY better than "How I Met Your Mother" which has scenes in a bar. Though I like "Frasier" a little more..."Cheers" STILL has that audience. |

Cheers, for the most part, has held up really well, in my opinion. I prefer the Shelley Long years overall, but the later seasons had some great moments as well.

It seems to me "Frasier" ended up being a lot more laugh-out-loud funny and the better show.
"Frasier" is definitely the gold standard for spinoffs. |

A bunch of dumbasses drinking in their local because they have nothing better to do (or relieving the stress of work or hiding from the World/spouse) is pretty universal and timeless. Bartenders who think they are God's gift to women, and rude, sassy, ethnic barmaids are not that hard to find either.

I'm not a huge fan of Cheers, but I have seen some episodes and I would definitely that it's still plenty funny. Situational comedy can possibly change, but relational comedy is always funny. And a lot of Cheers is built on relational comedy more than just situational comedy. I don't think it matters what year it's being watched.
