"True Detective" is HBO's Best Launch Since 2010
1/13/14 by Michael O'Connell Despite competition from the Golden Globes, new drama "True Detective" took in 2.3 million viewers during its inaugural telecast. That's the biggest HBO premiere since "Boardwalk Empire" (4.8 million) in 2010. It narrowly edged out "Game of Thrones", which opened to 2.2 million viewers in 2011. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/liv...tive-is-670524 |

I've watched the first 2 episodes and it seems dull & very slow paced to me. And I'm really getting tired of watching Matthew McConaughey smoke a cigarette and slowly answering questions in that interrogation room. Is it supposed to pick up steam & get better? It's not at all what I expected & I'm about ready to give up on it.

The most intriguing thing about the HBO series, says Michael Calia, is "that a show that’s such a big hit features so prominently a dark philosophy which suggests that humanity is an error of evolution and ultimately meaningless, and that we should stop reproducing."
