7. Don’t Trust the B—- In Apartment 23

Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23 began in 2012 and ended in 2013, which certainly wasn’t the best lifespan for a TV show. Despite its cancellation, the show began well and for the first few episodes the jokes were somewhat refreshing and funny, with it being honoured as one of the Most Exciting New Series at the Critic’s Choice Television Awards, on the back of its pilot.

If you haven’t already seen the show, then it’s probably never going to be aired on television again so it’s unlikely you’ll get a chance. In the interest of historical preservation, here’s the run-down: the show focuses on Chloe (played by the brilliant Krysten Ritter,) the titular”B*tch”, who loves nothing more than a party and ruining anyone’s life where she feels it would be funny, and June, a naive girl from Indiana who has moved to New York to start her dream job.

Over the first series, we see Chloe continuously make June’s life difficult, along with many an appearance from Dawson’s Creek star, James van Der Beek playing a grotesque version of himself. Despite the cancellation, the series finale ended with a highly reasonable 5.6 million viewers, but there was no real way back after the second season of the show changed its approach.

Suddenly, James van Der Beek only talked about the days of Dawson’s Creek, dream sequences started to rear their ugly heads, Chloe and June actually became friends and the jokes became significantly less funny, making it seem like there wasn’t much more for the TV show to carry on with even if it was to be renewed for another season.

Although it didn’t start off as a stupid TV show, Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23 became repetitive and stupid rather rapidly, which if you happened to invest your time in any more than the first season you are most certainly dumber than you were when you started.
