Oh, no no. Please no. Even back then some producers believed their shows looked better in black & white and would have preferred them to remain so. The Fugitive comes to mind. The Addams Family would have been similarly compelled to switch to color if it had been renewed for the 1966-67 season. What was creepy and kooky would have become gaudy and garish.

I've told the story before of a Chicago station that always showed the Halloween-themed episode of F-Troop (w/ Vincent Price) in black & white, apparently holding the same belief that the color spoiled the atmosphere of it.

It seems with black and white, the sets and actors didn't need all that much time to look good. I would think with color, time was spend on every little detail. I think Addams family and the Munsters had more a creepy look in black and white. I do know a movie was made in color of the Munsters.

I thought the living room scene in Munster Go Home was awesome in color! It still had the eerie feeling too it all imo. The color pics of the Addams home was cool to see and I prefer it in black and white, the color didn't look right.

I respectively disagree! The Addams Family and The Munsters should never be colorized. Each sitcom used the black and white to enhance the ghoulish atmosphere. If you take that away, I think you would lose something. Why tamper with perfection?

I did see the Addams Family living room in color way back and one of thing's boxes and it was RED and the box was red to match the wall paper, as opposed to grayish like most ppl think.

That pink wallpaper looks so out of place there in the living room. The dingy green wallpaper seen on the staircase is much more what I would have imagined.
