TV "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." Plans Crossover w/ "Thor 2"

"Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." Plans Thor 2 Crossover
by Kimberly Roots
11/2/13

Marvel’s "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." is about to drop the hammer — Thor’s hammer.

The ABC drama, which takes place in the same universe as feature films such as The Avengers, Iron Man and Captain America, will air a November episode that picks up where the upcoming movie Thor: The Dark World leaves off.

Dark World, the sequel to 2011′s Thor, will bow in theaters Nov. 8. Less than two weeks later, in the Nov. 19 episode of "S.H.I.E.L.D.", EW.com reports, Couslon & Co. will deal with the movie plot’s fallout — some of which “threatens to destroy a member of the team.

And just when you thought the episode, titled 'The Well', couldn’t possibly have any more geek cred: "Star Trek: The Next Generation‘s" Jonathan Frakes will direct.

No Thor characters/actors, however, will appear in the "S.H.I.E.L.D." follow-up.

Default Movie tie-in hampers "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."

The TV series can't delve into its own world when it has to be conscious of the Marvel movies. PLUS: "S.H.I.E.L.D." is getting good, finally.

I saw that episode the other day. It was pretty cool. In fact, that's the only episode of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. that I've seen- I'm glad I finally got around to watching the show- but I still don't think it's all that great. Of course, I never understand why TV shows are made about comic book characters that I doubt many comic book fans would care to see- for instance, a show about S.H.I.E.L.D. rather than say- a live action show for The Avengers. Or say the proposed Gotham series- a live action show about the adventures of Jim Gordon. You know, rather than say a live action series about Batman that's actually a serious take and not a comedic one. (Though I do still love the 1960s Adam West series. )
But I suppose those kinds of shows would cost much more money for special effects and so forth- so better to do the shows that would be a lot cheaper on such things......but unfortunately, I think they also tend to be a lot less interesting. "Birds of Prey" sounds more interesting than the Gotham series that is supposed to be coming......
Oh well- I'm always glad to see comic book characters coming to live action in any form, whether movies or TV series, etc.

Default Agents Of SHIELD: 5 Ways To Do Crossover Episodes With Other MCU Heroes

http://whatculture.com/tv/agents-shi...mcu-heroes.php

Quote:
Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD has fed of the box office buzz from Thor: The Dark World by doing a crossover episode featuring an Asgardian relic left on earth, and the problems it caused when it fell in to the wrong hands.

This is the first real evidence of the shared universe in the show, finally delivering after a few throwaway lines earlier in the season. Despite not featuring any of the stars of Thor, the opening fits nicely with the events of the Thor sequel and shows us where AoS stands in the MCU timeline.

The crossover provided a small, but much needed, boost to the shows ratings, which had been dropping by the week since the pilot episode. Maybe it’s time the AoS writers looked at adding more crossover episodes dealing with fall out from the movies, and here are five ways I think they could do that.
