The Big Bang Theory is an excellent example of a paradox. On the one hand, ever since its third season, it’s become one of the most popular sitcoms on television, and is watched by tens of millions of viewers each week. People love the show about some nerdy guys who hang out with the hot woman who lives next door.

Here’s the kicker: the target group that the show’s characters reflect, i.e. nerds, geeks, fanboys and girls, etc., seem to hate this show with a passion. Whether looking at Internet comments or talking with my friends, it seems that the people who would most understand the humor or obscure references the characters make wish this show would just fall over and die a slow death. It’s a bit different for me: I am technically classified under the “geek” category, and I’ve been enjoying the show since it first started. I’ve learned my lesson, though: don’t bring the show up around other geeks. A person can be yelled at only so many times.

Still, there’s one thing that neither fans of the show nor haters can deny: they’ve had some awesome guest stars over the years. From Katee Sackhoff and George Takei to Stan Lee and Stephen Hawking, The Big Bang Theory has brought guest stars that reflect the scientific and fanboy interest that make the guys on the show who they are. Sure, other shows have had celebrities guest star on episodes, but with The Big Bang Theory, the appearances feel less forced, and whether they’re famous scientists or science fiction icons, it’s truly great to see them interact with the main characters in humorous situations.

That being said, the show’s not going to be on forever, so the writers and producers need to start bringing in more famous faces to interact with our favorite nerds. There are so many choices that are still available, but after careful consideration, I’ve compiled a list of the 10 best celebrities who should cameo as themselves on The Big Bang Theory, as well as possible story scenarios for them.

I'm actually surprised that William Shatner hasn't appeared on the show yet. He does those commercials with Kaley Cuoco plus with the gangs obsession with Star Trek. It's only a matter of time. Has to happen.
