Question Diff'rent Strokes Boned the Fish When...

http://www.bonethefish.com/viewtopics.php?246#

Quote:
Diff'rent Strokes is an American television sitcom that aired on the NBC television network from November 3, 1978 to May 4, 1985, and on ABC from September 27, 1985 to March 7, 1986. The series starred Gary Coleman and Todd Bridges as Arnold and Willis Jackson, two orphaned children from Harlem who are taken in by rich Park Avenue businessman Phillip Drummond (Conrad Bain) and his daughter Kimberly (Dana Plato), for whom their deceased mother previously worked. During the first season, Charlotte Rae also starred as the Drummonds' housekeeper, Mrs. Garrett (who ultimately spun-off into her own successful show, The Facts of Life). The series made stars out of child actors Coleman, Bridges, and Plato, and became known for the "very special episodes" in which serious issues such as racism, drug use and child molestation were dramatically explored. The lives of stars Coleman, Bridges and Plato, however, were later plagued by legal troubles and drug addiction, as the stardom and success they achieved while on the show eluded them after the series was cancelled.

I wish these polls would have an "other" option. I think the show jumped the shark when Dana Plato was fired. She was a big part of the show, and when she was no longer there, it hurt the show.

Now, I realize she had become pregnant, but I wish the producers had been willing to work her pregnancy into the script, or at least just show her from concealing angles, the way it was done on dozens of other shows. Nothing wrong with having an actress wear baggy clothes, or a heavy coat, or having her read the newspaper at the dining room table for a few episodes, until her baby's born, and she can return to work.

Of course, I'm aware that drugs may also have been involved, but still...

TMC, I had to remove those JTS comments. Please try not to copy and paste a cluster of comments from other websites. It is hard on the eyes as it looks like a big ol' paragraph and tough to read through.

My suggestion is to space out the JTS or BTF comments because it looks as though you are spamming. So, if you feel as though it was significant to post, just edit them and space them out to make them readable.

That's all. Thanks.

I voted for Sam but Maggie should be included with him. Another jump the shark moment, although not as major, was replacing Adelaide with Pearl. Adelaide should have been a regular instead.
