Question Big Bang Theory Boned the Fish When...

http://www.bonethefish.com/viewtopics.php?276

Quote:
The Big Bang Theory is an American situation comedy created and executive produced by Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady, which premiered on CBS on September 24, 2007. It concerns two male prodigies in their twenties, one an experimental physicist (Leonard) and the other a theoretical physicist (Sheldon), who work at Caltech and live across the hall from a blonde waitress with show-biz aspirations (Penny). Leonard and Sheldon's geekiness and intellect are contrasted with Penny's social skills and common sense for comedic effect. Two equally geeky friends of theirs, Howard and Rajesh, are also main characters. The show is produced by Warner Bros. Television and Chuck Lorre Productions.

The show has never boned. It's one of the best network prime time shows on TV today and a very funny one, too. It's also very well written and the only show to employ a science consultant.

TJ has said he doesn't have a problem with the bone the fish threads, they bring activity to several boards. If you don't like them you have the option of putting TMC on ignore and you won't see any of the threads.

The Big Bang Theory sort of jumped the shark, when they took the entire allure of the show, the 4 guys not having luck with women, and completely severed it when they gave them women. It made the show really relate-able and allowed people to laugh at themselves. Yeah, there are good jokes here and there, but I'm not laughing when Leonard is with Penny, but rather, when he's woeful about her. Hell even, when the other characters sort of broke the 4th wall and acknowledged that sad Leonard was becoming stale and that he needed new material was funny. At this point, everyone is getting what they want on TBBT, so I think it should end soon.

I think it actually did a reverse bone. The show was good with the four original male characters (and Penny). But the show got much funnier when they gave the guys girlfriends... and gave Penny something to do besides be the eye candy.

And it proved that girls can be geeks, too, in their own way.

As of right now, the show has not yet jumped the shark (though I am not crazy about Penny's hair this season).

Mine is the one vote for Amy Fowler. I like Mayim on Blossom but couldn't stand her on Big Bang, a large part of why I dropped the show after watching a few years.

Cool

I voted for when they all got girfriends. I couldn't relate to them nearly as much after that. (being single myself)

Default TV Shows That Need To Be Cancelled In 2015

http://whatculture.com/tv/10-tv-show...-in-2015.php/8

Quote:
4. The Big Bang Theory

Presumably it’s the same people who liked Two and a Half Men who like The Big Bang Theory, because both shows were created by the same guy and because both shows exhibit the same levels of awfulness. Seriously, how has this been on the air for so long? There’s so little to laugh at – at least, no ironically – across the span of every episode that it’s genuinely confusing as to how 175 of the darn things have been made.

And it’s just getting worse and worse with every season. Is there any reason for this sub-par excuse for a comedy, which seems to have been created in some sort of time void, to continue?

The worst crime committed by the show, of course, stems from the fact that it’s a show about geeks for people who aren’t (and know nothing) about geeks; if these characters really existed, they’d make terrible examples of said social group – the pop cultural references are often wrong or twisted to fit the show’s intentions, whilst the geeky things that true geeks would know are miscommunicated, dumbed down or missed. The result is super jarring.

In short: The Big Bang Theory has overstayed its welcome. With its ninth season likely inevitable at some point in 2015, here’s hoping that CBS forget to renew it thereafter.
