Question I Dream of Jeannie Boned the Fish When...

http://www.bonethefish.com/viewtopics.php?514

Quote:
I Dream of Jeannie is a 1960s American sitcom with a fantasy premise. Produced by Screen Gems, it originally aired from September 1965 to May 1970 with new episodes, and September 1970 with season repeats, on NBC. The show ran for five seasons and produced 139 episodes. The first season consisted of 30 episodes filmed in black and white (decades later colorized for some broadcasts and a DVD release). The other 109 episodes were filmed in color. The show has continued to air in reruns ever since.

"Boned"?

Even after looking at your link, I still can't figure out what that's supposed to mean. Is it another term for "jumping the shark?" Because the only other slang reference I know is the sexual one.

A little more explanation for your poll would be appreciated

It's another term for JTS. The website can't use JTS because TV Guide owns the name now.

I agree with you. I loved it from the beginning til the end. I also think the show could of went at least two more years.

I agree. The term "boned the fish" is a poor replacement for "jumped the shark." Or is there some show that I don't know about in which a character boned a fish and caused the series to go into a downslide?

Even the cast said that having Jeannie and Tony get married killed the show. The truth is that the show was repetitious and there wasn't much else to do.

Getting married. The fun was gone after that.

It never jumped. IDOJ is one of the few shows that never got stale or boring.

I loved when Jeannie and Tony married. It opened the door for new storylines. I really love seeing Jeannie interact with Dr. Bellows, Amanda Bellows and General Shaeffer. The fun was still there. And I think the show could of ran for another year.

I agree 100%. I would have really liked a few more "married" years with more screentime given to the Bellows and interacting with the Nelsons.

Yeah. I love all the seasons of IDOJ, but season 5 is my favorite. There's a certain excitement I feel when Jeannie is referred to as Tony's wife and when she calls Major Nelson husband, Anthony, or darling.

And I love that we see more of the Bellows. I love Jeannie's friendship with Amanda as well as Jeannie's friendship with Dr. Bellows. He seemed very fond of her, and I thought it was cute.
