"I Love Lucy's" Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz also live on in advertising for cigarettes and banking. |

Beginning in 1955, Procter and Gamble and General Foods were alternate sponsors on "I Love Lucy". One of the funniest commercials I've ever seen was part of the 1956 episode "Lucy and Superman." You Tube has a video of the final commercial and credits; the commercial have Lucy and Desi talking about the (then) new Squeeze Comb Lilt home permanent, in which the waving lotion is applied in a squeeze bottle, rather than being "dip-dabbed" as the other leading brand (Toni) was.
And in his best "English broken here" accent, Desi reminds the audience to go to the store to buy "Squizz Com Leelt." Lucy then translates, "That's Squeeze Comb Lilt home permanent."
