Default Fox Fall Pilot Review: Brooklyn Nine-Nine - Premieres September 17

Brooklyn Nine-Nine - Tuesdays at 8:30PM ET/PT on Fox
Premieres Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at 8:30PM ET/PT

From Parks & Recreation writers Dan Goor and Michael Schur, Brooklyn Nine-Nine follows the staff of Brooklyn's 99th precinct, which has just been taken over by tightly-wound Captain Ray Holt. Captain Holt is determined to make the precinct's diversely dysfunctional staff and turn them into the best precinct in Brooklyn – which may wind up being more of a challenge than he expected.

Default "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" manages to pull off a comedy about cops

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/rev...nine-tv-630746

Few shows have been able to do it, "but 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' gets the formula right immediately," says Tim Goodman. "It's broad, but funny because it's broad -- you get the tone immediately and go with it." PLUS: "Brooklyn" has "intelligent design" with his characters, it's a lame premise that wastes Andre Braugher, can Andy Samberg's character become a real person?, and how the cast became so diverse.

Default 5 Questions "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" Needs to Answer If It's Going to Succeed

http://www.complex.com/pop-culture/2...-pilot-review/

Quote:
Brooklyn Nine-Nine isn't changing up the sitcom game. Led by SNL's Andy Samberg and Homicide: Life on the Street's Andre Braugher, the cop show follows the shenanigans of Brooklyn's 99th precinct, from cracking cases to navigating interpersonal relationships. Standard stuff, drawn from shows like The Office and Parks and Recreation (where some of the show's producers and writers hail from) but that's not to say it doesn't have potential. It does, loads of it. That is, if it can figure itself out first.

Last night's premiere episode on FOX felt like your prototypical pilot. You're inundated with the exposition around all the characters, and each one's got the energy of a dog dying to pee. The pilot essentially built a stage, and now it's up to cast to do their thing for the rest of the season.

It's got all the major pieces set to survive. So now it's only task is to address these: 5 Questions Brooklyn Nine-Nine Needs to Answer If It's Going to Succeed.

Eeeh. I finally watched the pilot and didn't care much for it. I didn't think it was that funny.

It got decent enough ratings, then again everything else was in reruns. Next week we'll see if it will sink or not.

This show might get a full-season order, but it needs to move Friday nights next season.

Ditto. It was too dry. I'm not sure why but I prefer sitcoms with a laugh track (with the exception of "The Neighbors"). I guess I'm just used to more shows that do have laugh tracks.

People were comparing it to Barney Miller. i don't see it. Their jokes were falling flat to me.

There doesn't yet seem to be chemistry between the cast yet.
