The Sarah Connor Chronicles, despite its general unevenness, certainly had its moments, with a teenage John Connor (Thomas Dekker) and mother Sarah (Lena Headey) trying to further prevent the end of mankind.

However, in the very last episode (as the show had been cancelled for being too expensive), they made a bizarre creative choice indeed, to have John Connor time travel to the future, at the point where he is supposed to be the resistance leader played by Christian Bale in Terminator: Salvation.

However, because John never became that figure, in the future he’s just a regular Joe and nobody realises who he is (not even daddy dearest himself, Kyle Reese), which sort of screws up the entire idea of these movies, erasing the premise on which the films were built.

Of course, it wasn’t beyond redeeming; John could find a way to go back and “fill in the gaps”, so to speak, but because the show was axed, we’ll never know what was intended next.
