Why diden't laura dress up like a tomboy to get steve from being in love with her

OK so in the season 5 episode from family matters laura gets turned down a good offer deal from a sexiest car dealer man because of her gender she wants to show the car dealer a lesson by dressing up like a guy aka tomboy so she can get the car at a cheap price, it seemed like after she started dressing like a tomboy steve started to lose love interest in her maybe that was her cure to get rid of him, do you think laura should have dressed like a tomboy more often until steve starts to think of her more as a guy then a girl ???

I say the real question about this episode is what's up with that car dealer.
Yeah, I know he was supposed to be "sexist", but the whole situation doesn't make sense. Why would a car dealer not just let Laura buy whatever car she wanted and have a happy customer? My only guess is that he thought some cars were more appropriate for women drivers than others. But did we ever get a real explanation?

That happens now and then on sitcoms, when they bring in a one-shot sexist or racist character. I just want there to be some depth to them, or some real motivation for their actions, just so they feel more real. "Family Matters" were usually good with this, with this episode as a big exception. But remember Tia's boss on "Sister, sister", who openly gave male employes higher salaries than the female ones. He just came across as a silly jerk, who refused to give us any reason to why he did what he did. And we also have Chelsea's boss in one episode of "That's so Raven", who wouldn't employ black people. What was that about? Why wouldn't she hire in black people?

OK the car dealer was indeed sexist and maybe deep down inside a little prejudice towards women i never got the impression he had hatred towards black men or women but he was somewhat pushy and bossy he would try to con people into buying a car they had no reason buying, he most likely knew laura had a good personality and a good kid and came from a good loving family like The Huxtable kids from The Cosby Show, i think the car dealer is like most car dealer men in real life they think they can take advantage of women and make them rent or buy a car that looks feminine and not buy or rent a car that looks manly.

Second Question you answered here is my theory on Sitcoms or heck even movies with racism on them.

Furienna i am a black guy, black people are not treated as poorly in real life as you see on TV Shows and Movies like that mini series Roots or maybe you have seen stephen kings movie called IT the black kid called mike has to deal with racism in the film its just a stereotype, i have no idea why producers on TV sitcoms think its cool to exaggerate and have this emotional episode where White people are treated badly by black people or black people are treated badly by white people its kinda awkward and offensive, every show in the 90's had a racist episode The Fresh Prince of Bel Air,The Cosby Show,Sister Sister,Smart Guy,Family Matters and many other, their was one episode i dont no if you seen the episode its from Smart Guy from season 3 where Yvett Henderson gets a job but she can only spy on Black customers but she is not allowed to spy on any of the White customers because the manager they are not likely to steal anything good episode, Family Matters had a few racist episodes like the N word on the locker or Eddy being pulled over by white cops, yeah with any show or movie whenever the episode or film deals with racism or sexism the episode or movie leaves viewers with mysteries and questions lol.

O yeah your other question about the episode from Chelsea's boss from Thats So Raven i forgot all about this show i havent seen it in years nearly a decade i did see that episode i think the reason Chelsea's racist boss did not hire young Black People working for the store is she figured they are not dependable maybe they would show up late for work or maybe she thought they would steal something from the store.

Furienna some guys also deal with sexism in real life some store managers hire more female then male to work for their store nowadays.

Those episodes were good, because they felt real. Okay, we never got to know who wrote that word on Laura's locker and left her that note, but still, it was a really well-done scene. You could just tell how sad Laura became and how angry Steve became! That's some good stuff! And I think the cop, who had pulled Eddy over, actually said that black kids only went to that neighborhood to ask for trouble. But many other sitcom episodes, where they wanted to adress racism and sexism, I just feel like they almost got there, but not quite, if you know what I mean.

That's my guess too. But it would have been nice if they had spent five seconds on letting her actually say something like that, and not just "we don't hire black people" without explaining why. That would have made the episode feel more real and give her a little depth.

Yeah the N word should not have been ignored this could have been a good idea to maybe make a part 2 find out who the creep was who wrote that on her locker, one thing that does not make since about this episode was why diden't the High School steve and laura attended did have any cameras to patrol students at school, every High School must have cameras for students safety, also i am sure a few kids saw the person that wrote that racist N word on the locker why come they did not tell the principal to have the creep arrested, the episode has lot of mysteries unsolved.

I guess the manager did not feel comfortable around other race of people besides her own race so out of fear she told chelsea she dont hire black people, TV Show episodes are full of mysteries.

Looking back Steve's advances towards Laura were quite disturbing and stalker like. For instance, there was an episode where Laura was going to a cheerleading competition or something, and Steve ended up sneaking into her hotel in one of those roll-away beds.



The fact that he ended up with Laura had some serious unfortunate implications.

You mean, except for that they suddenly started dating when they were both supposedly seriously involved with other people?

Yeah, it has been pointed out that Myra was treated way more harshly for her stalking. Then again, it is true that Steve at least never drew a nude picture of Laura.
