TV "Community" Creator Dan Harmon Announces He's Back

Dan Harmon Exploring Possible Return to "Community"
5/27/2013
by Lesley Goldberg

Dan Harmon may be heading back to Greendale.

The creator of NBC's "Community" is in talks with studio Sony Pictures Television to return in some capacity for the series' upcoming fifth season, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. Details on just what role the former showrunner would have remain unclear.

Harmon broke the news during his Harmontown podcast on Sunday, according to HollyWookiee.com, which had a reporter present for the taping.

According to the site, Harmon told the audience that he has been asked to return to "Community" -- and later asked that his comment be edited out of the podcast, which has not yet been released online.

NBC renewed the Joel McHale starrer May 10, a day after the comedy wrapped its fourth season even year-over-year with its third frame, which was overseen by Harmon.

David Guarascio and Moses Port took over this season, with some critics noting "Community" had lost the edge it had under Harmon.

Harmon also acknowledged the Chevy Chase feud during his podcast taping, joking that he would only return if the actor -- who exited the show in November -- was brought back to the series as well.

A spokesperson for Sony Pictures Television told THR that there was nothing official to report at this time.

- although I highly doubt Chevy is coming back, especially if Dan does come back.

CRAZY. But amazing. It just wasn't the same without him.

Default Dan Harmon on "Community" Season 4: "I'm not going to be a jerk about it"

http://www.eonline.com/news/427503/d...g-to-be-a-jerk

He plans on watching last season for the first time this weekend. "I'm just going to sit by myself, pop some popcorn and watch it," he says, adding: "I know there were some great writers working on that show who bled with me for seasons one, two and three…the worst thing I can do is fart in their direction at all."

Dan Harmon Returns to "Community" for Fifth Season
Jun 10, 2013
by Liz Raftery

It's official: Dan Harmon and Chris McKenna are returning to "Community" as executive producers for Season 5, Community producer Sony TV announced Monday.

Earlier this month, Harmon tweeted that he would be coming back to the NBC comedy, but the deals had not yet closed. Harmon, who created the show, was fired in 2012. Although the show earned a renewal in his absence, many felt the quality of the show suffered without him.

"I expected the fan reaction I got when I was leaving, which was that nothing really happened," Harmon told TVGuide.com t the ATX conference in Austin, Tex. this weekend. "Because all my life I've been being dismissed from things and finding out nobody cared that much."

But most fans were happy to hear the news that he would be returning to the show — a reaction Harmon says is a double-edged sword. "I was like, 'OK, that makes me feel pretty good,'" Harmon said. "But it also puts a lot of pressure on me, which I'm very happy about. That's how I like to work."

i'm happy about Harmon's return, but it isn't going to mean much if NBC keeps treating the show like a second-class citizen.

Default Why Dan Harmon was fired from "Community": Details of his erratic behavior revealed

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/new...ls-wild-586084

He would disappear, he had an oddball leadership style, he would fall asleep during the day, he was an alcoholic and his writers resented him. "I wanted to kill myself constantly constantly," says Harmon. "It's not an exaggeration to say that every single day, I was the reason why everyone above me and everyone below me had a problem.
