The 10 Worst Reality Show Concepts To Make It on the Air
"Are You Hot?: The Search for America's Sexiest People" (ABC, 2003) Lorenzo Lamas and a panel of D-listers bring attractive people on stage and judge their bodies while pointing out all of their flaws using a laser pointer to highlight the imperfections. Also, has Lorenzo Lamas looked in a mirror recently? His face isn’t exactly holding up to these standards. "Dating in the Dark" (ABC, 2009-2010) The concept for this stupid show was to put three men and three women in a pitch-black room where they would have a blind date (get it???) and then pair up the couples. Eventually, the lights would come on and they would see the other person. There was no twist or surprise, it was just regular people the whole time. "Boy Meets Boy" (Bravo, 2003) There’s no issue with doing a gay dating show, but it was extremely messed up when Bravo revealed the show’s twist: Some of the contestants are straight guys pretending to be gay. If one of the straight guys was selected as the winner, he would win a cash prize. No one thought this was a gross, terrible idea? No one? "Pete Rose: Hits & Mrs." (TLC, 2013) If the former baseball player’s legacy wasn’t tarnished enough from his gambling issues, Rose decided it would be a great idea to let TLC follow him around. The cameras recorded him as he spent time with his Playboy model fiancée, as well as hanging with little leaguers as he teaches them the art of stealing second base and parlaying multiple bets. It was so bad TLC ended up airing the final episodes back-to-back on a Sunday morning. "The Littlest Groom" (Fox, 2004) Again, the concept of this show isn’t the problem. Finding love for a little person is perfectly fine, but FOX made it feel so wrong. Even the twist of bringing in average-sized women was handled in a way that made the groom look like an oversized infant. "The Pickup Artist" (VH1, 2007-2008) Here’s a show about a douche in a ridiculous hat trying to teach nerds how to manipulate and trick girls into making out with them. Women are reduced to props in this terrible VH1 creation. If you don’t think Mystery is ridiculous enough, wait until you meet his wingman, Matador! "Mr. Personality" (Fox, 2003) It was bad enough that Fox came up with a show where a woman would be courted by creepy men wearing masks like a Marvel villain, but to top it all off it was hosted by none other than Monica Lewinsky! Thankfully, it didn’t even make it through an entire season and was swiftly cancelled. "I Want a Famous Face" (MTV, 2004-2005) There are bad ideas for reality shows, and then there are ideas that will haunt participants for the rest of their lives. This is one of the latter. Here MTV follows youngsters as they spend thousands of dollars on plastic surgery to look like their favorite celebrities. Maybe a tattoo would be less drastic, but if you want your face to look like Ricky Martin who are we to judge? "Kill Reality" (E!, 2005) What happened to all those reality stars you hated? They’re now all under one roof! That was the idea E! apparently put together in 2005. The show took a bunch of ex-reality stars and started filming a horror movie with them, while also filming a series about making the horror movie. Does that make any sense? It doesn’t matter, it’s over and gone forever. "Temptation Island" (Fox, 2001-2003) Why would anyone sign up for this show? Fox put four couples on an island filled with attractive singles who are trying to seduce them away from their partner. There are no prizes, just a whole lot of gross. If you’re one of the single people, I’m sure you could just have a blast partying and doing your own thing, but as a couple, not so much. http://www.mandatory.com/2013/05/14/...ake-it-on-air/ |

I actually watched the Pickup Artist. I didnt think it was a bad show. I think theres too many reality shows but again, everybody has different tastes. I didnt watch any of the other shows. I'm a sports fan, but that Pete Rose reality show, I had no interest in watching it.

I'd say any Reality Show is bad!
But I feel "Toddlers in Tiaras" is the worst! |

I remember watching Kill Reality. I thought it was kind of cool and don't remember anything despicable about it.

I saw previews for Dating In the Dark though never watched. I did watch that Are You Hot the one time (was that the only time?). It was cheesy and extremely horrible.
