Question Single Weirdest Season for a Sitcom

I got this idea after reading this AVClub.com article about the second season of Last Man Standing being the "weirdest" for a sitcom since the fourth/final sesaon of 'Til Death:
http://www.avclub.com/articles/last-...eirdest,95857/

I also heard that the ninth/final season of How I Met Your Mother will take place over a single weekend (in essence, it seems to be aiming to be a sitcom version of 24):
http://tvline.com/2013/05/15/how-i-m...-introductions

Of the top of my head, I think that it goes w/o saying that you can't do a discussion regarding the all time "weird" seasons for sitcoms w/o talking about the last season of Roseanne, when the Connors won the lottery.

I don't watch How I Met Your Mother but that sounds stupid. Who wants to watch a whole season that takes place in a single weekend?

Community Season 3 has to qualify. Some of the weirdest stuff that's ever made it to network television. It featured...

-An episode that showed seven different timelines of the same night
-An episode in which a "Glee club virus" took over the study group and turned them into gleeful singing freaks
-An episode done in the style of a Ken Burns documentary about a pillow fort
-An episode that took place almost entirely in Annie's mind
-An episode done in the style of a retro video game

My vote goes to the final season of Roseanne, and the last few seasons of The Drew Carey Show.

That could be interesting if each episode really did it like 24 so that it takes place in real time- i.e. The whole episode should only portray 30 minutes of time, then- or more like 22 or so, with all the commercials. There are about 3540 minutes in a weekend (assuming you start the weekend at 5 PM on Friday and continue through all day on Saturday and Sunday, up to 5 AM on Monday). So that could theoretically offer 118 episodes to capture all the events of a weekend.
That would cover up to 5 seasons worth and then some (assuming most seasons have at least 22 episodes- though I know some have more and some have less.)

Default Weird Season for a sitcom

Home Improvement season 6 because the boys became teenagers and they forgot to change the opening credits for season 6 (1996-1997).

I think the final season of Roseanne takes the cake, it completely lost its way (which can happen to sitcoms) but also completely went off the deep end.

The final season of The Courtship of Eddie's Father (Season 3) was pretty weird. Stiller & Meara's characters running a phone answering service, as an episode subject? Pretty much the whole season was a departure from what made the first 2 seasons great.

I agree about the final season of Roseanne. I think season 8 of Family Matters was weird. The show had been getting sci fi but that season took it to another level. I don't think any episode was realistic that season.

I agree with both Roseanne and family Matters. The last season of each show was weird but I still loved watching.

Except for Boy Meets World, most of the TGIF shows got progressively weirder as the season numbers increased.

Then again, how much can really happen during two days? Most 30-minute-periods of your life would make a very boring TV show episode.
