Default 10 Game Shows We Want To See Hip-Hop Versions Of

Quote:
Sometimes randomness can be a really good thing. Take the new MTV2 game show Hip-Hop Squares, set to premiere tonight at 11 p.m. EST. As recently as a few months ago, the idea of resurrecting Hollywood Squares was in no casual, nostalgic television addict’s head, nor was there any shred of imagination working to picture the likes of Ghostface Killah, Biz Markie, Machine Gun Kelly, and Bam Margera occupying the seats once used by Jim J. Bullock, John Davidson, and perennial center square Joan Rivers.

But that’s exactly what’s happened, and we’re all for it. With New York City radio personality Peter Rosenberg in the old Shadoe Stevens host role, Hip-Hop Squares should once again breathe life into tic-tac-toe. Bonus points for giving Ghostface a platform to bless the masses with more “words of wisdom,” even if it’s in the forms of wrong answers.

Why stop there, though? If Hip-Hop Squares is a ratings triumph, MTV2 and other TV networks will surely be looking for ways to emulate the success. Here, we offer a gang of options with our list of 10 Game Shows We Want To See Hip-Hop Versions Of.

Hip hop music is nasty! I don't want to see ANY game shows with that version.

Well, I agree that much of hip hop music has nasty lyrics- but not all of it. And the musical style itself is cool- I like some rap and hip hop- but I'm very selective of which ones. Will Smith and Kid 'N' Play had some songs that are fairly clean and innocuous and I like some of those- but I mainly like hip hop music and rap music groups like DC Talk and TobyMac (the one member of the group who continued with rap.) Of course, I like most any style of music that is uplifting The Lord Christ (though I will say I'm not very fond of country- but I do have a few songs here and there that I like alright.)
Anyway- what does it even mean to have a "hip hop version" of a game show? The all Hip Hop Name That Tune? I suppose that would make sense. But there are only so many game shows that are music-related. I mean, how do you hip-hopify Wheel of Fortune? I guess you could have an all Hip Hop-themed version of Jeopardy!, but I would think people might get tired of rap music knowledge after a while. You would have a very select audience for such a show and it seems unlikely it would get on the air, much less stay on the air for any length of time.
I'm not sure why Bam Margera is being included for Hip-Hop Squares. I know him much more as a skateboarder than a rap artist.
Oh well- interesting idea, but doubtful as to how long it will last......
