John Wood, 80, was the inspiration for the early '90s comedy-drama in which Dutton plays a garbage collector who believed in a hard day's work. Wood died after getting punched in the face during a dispute with a 25-year-old man. |

Wow- that's sad to hear. May God comfort Mr. Wood's family.
"Roc" is a great show- nice to know more about the inspiration for the show. |

This is every bit of horrific as when Charles S. Dutton killed somebody. Let's not forget that.

What? I didn't know Charles Dutton killed someone....Whoa- that puts a serious damper on my fond memories of "Roc"......
(Well, it's kinda like liking "Baretta" after finding out about Robert Blake's dirty deal.... In either case, I would say I can still watch both shows and enjoy them- it doesn't mean I agree with everything actors involved in the shows have done though.) |

Dutton said it was because the guy physically attacked him (Dutton was a middle-school dropout who had previously taken up boxing). But even if that was true about the person he killed, did he really have to go so far out of his way as to kill him (unless it was for self-defense)?
For some reason, Dutton wasn't as all over the news like Robert Blake was. |

Well, self-defense is one thing... and I don't know the full story, of course- but yeah, I would think he could have stopped short of actual manslaughter, unless he seriously believed he was in danger of losing his own life...
