Default John Stamos almost left after seasn 6 - what if he had?

Of course, i answer this with one set of fics and another possibly on the way, but it's just as much geared toward the characters and how their lives would have changedif Jesse dies. (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/8222944/1/In-Loving-Memory, http://www.fanfiction.net/s/8550307/...b-is-It-Anyway - the Smash Club ide still culd be used to introduce Gia earlier) Although, one fic is definitely an idea based solely on how the writers might have tried to draw viewers; a time travel episode. http://www.fanfiction.net/s/8281394/...Michelle-McFly

But, would they have let Jesse die? Or jsut recast him?

I think Jesse accepts as long as one plays Melina if they split the twins after season 5 (which i'll believe to my dying day was at least a glimmer in the minds of the execs when they did "Greek Week," hence Jesse as godfather to a girl whose parents don't even make the trip, as if Papouli and Gina have custody for the moment) However, jesse couldn't be fodfatehr of Melina if they split thema nd he's not there.

But, it was really a contract squabble from what I read.

So, what happens? Do they kill Jesse off and do the show without him? REcast him with someone who loooks similar at least? Pull the old "He's here but never on screen" bit - would it fly as well in season 7 as it would have (I think) ins eason 9 when the alternative is cancelling the show?

If John Stamos left then it would have been canceled, the show would never be the same without him

I couldn't imagine Jesse not being on the show but Becky and the twins staying. I think if John Stamos would have left the show they would have had to write off Becky/the twins and have them move far enough to where it'd be understandable not to see them.

Good point; housing is *really* expensive in San Francisco - and the whole Bay Area. Maybe they'd go back to Nebraska.

I doubt they would kill him off. They would probably do the same thing they did to Denise for the final season of The Cosby Show. They would have Jesse make it big and go on tour across America for Season 7. I expect he would be a recurring character for the seventh season before being offered the chance to tour the whole world, causing for an endearing goodbye episode. He wouldn't appear in Season 8 at all. But Becky and the twins would stay behind.

It would have been hard to watch the show without him but I think if they had recast him it really would have killed the series. And as for actually killing him off, this was a family show and to have him die in a motorcycle accident just seems wrong. I'm glad he stayed for the duration even though the middle seasons were the best, IMO.

I wonder what would've happened had Dave Coulier was the one who left? You can argue that John Stamos was actually more essential to the program than Coulier. Joey seemed to really become a "fourth-wheeler" (whatever that is) in the latter years since there were know four adults (counting Rebecca) living in the house. Theoretically, the girls or Danny for that matter, didn't seem to really need Joey that much anymore since they were getting older and they had Rebecca around as a surrogate mother figure. Plus, and I kind of hate to say this, Dave Coulier's shtick was kind of wearing thin towards the end.
