Default Lisa Whelchel: "I'd do a sitcom"

http://www.people.com/people/article...658043,00.html

The "Survivor"/"Facts of Life" veteran has received several offers to return to TV, but she says: "I didn't really go into Survivor to restart my career."

Am I the only one hoping fervently that she will not do a Disney sitcom? Those are just terrible nowadays IMP. Sonny with a Chance (the one NMK was on), and a couple of others were the only good ones.

What Lisa should do is ask Nancy to write and produce something. Nancy wrote and produced some really funny stuff in her two short-lived sitcom attempts after FOL.

No one else doing any wishful thinking?

I think Disney or Nickelodeon are about the only channels that we could expect to see her on just because the content that is shown on the major networks and the majority of the cable networks is so vulgar that it wouldn't be up to Lisa's standards of morality. I just can't see her going along with the type of writing we see on today's sitcoms. There are a few other cable networks that she might be okay with. The Hub for instance, which airs reruns of "Facts." Maybe they would consider developing some type of original sitcom for her?

Goodbye Charlie is a good Disney sitcom. The problem with most of their sitcoms is that it is programmed to kids and not to families. Lisa should do a family sitcom.

This is probably too much to hope for, but since Disney is doing a "Boy Meets World" spin-off, why not a "Facts of Life" spin-off and/or remake? The two could air in a special primetime block together.

I hope she doesn't resort to doing a Disney or Nick show either. I think it's possible her standards have changed since she was on Facts of Life..it has been a very long time and she seems more open-minded and accepting than in the past. People said they didn't think the Survivor rumor was true because they didn't think she'd do that kind of show, but she did. Can't put words in her mouth though. I wish someone would ask her about what she'd be willing to play now.

There are also a few fairly clean shows on the networks. Like the show Reba McEntyre is doing now. Don't know how well they do, but they do exist.

I didn't mean Lisa should do shows that has many storylines and characters that might be objectionable, HIMYM, for example. But yes, Survivor was such a breakout for her, I never believed it possible. So one never knows, but we do know that she will draw the line somewhere.

A lot of people have said they would like to see he guest-star on Modern Family. I think she would fit in there, what does everyone think?

Having said that, Lisa Whelchel is comedy gold. She's naturally very funny; she can connect so well with people; she knows how to work the camera. I really, really hope producers will realize what a gem they have available.

I could see here doing a show on tvland. I remember she said at the tvland awards she thanked the station for having great shows that families could watch. Or I could see her doing a talk show, she is co hosting for a week next month on the Jeff Probst show.

It'd be interesting to see her do a drama for a change. The FOL writers didn't give her many heavy scenes I guess because Blair was supposed to be kind of flaky, but she did well in that episode where Blair has the car accident. Even though Blair was ridiculous for making such a fuss over a mild disfigurement that bangs could easily cover, Lisa really made me feel for her.

Im actually a little surprised that she did Survivor. I dont watch Survivor but is some of that a little raunchy? Unless, she has softened her stance over the years.

I was just thinking about that when I opened this thread. Great minds think alike!!
Maybe a family-friendly talk show for mothers? She seems very passionate about motherhood and family. I think Hallmark has a pretty good market for that with its Home and Family show that currently airs.

I could definitely see her doing movies for the Hallmark Channel where she is one of those mothers trying to find love again. She could also do one of those family movies for GMC. She'd be good for those along with being an attorney for one of the drama shows.
