Or is "The Voice" and "Sunday Night Football" making the Peacock's recovery look stronger than it is? |

lol It's like 95% thanks to The Voice. Without it, Go On would be at Thursday night comedy levels (it fell big during the one week where The Voice was a recap show) and Revolution would probably be no more than a middling hit, if that. The rest of their line-up is still a disaster. Bob Greenblatt is not a savior just because he stumbled into a high-rated reality show, and he's running it into the ground just like Silverman/Zucker did with The Apprentice and Deal or No Deal.
Their #1 placement has also been helped by the fact that the other networks have fallen big this year, down to their level. And it's going to disappear when The Voice goes away for four months. |

Between the two cycles of The Voice, NBC is going to fall...HARD.
Mondays: The Biggest Loser - 2.0 Deception - 1.7 Tuesdays: Betty White - 1.8 Go On - 1.9 The New Normal - 1.6 Smash - 1.7 Wednesdays: Whitney - 1.6 Guys with Kids - 1.4 SVU - 1.6 Chicago Fire - 1.6 Thursdays: Community - 1.4 Parks and Rec - 1.6 The Office - 1.9 1600 Pen - 1.4 Rock Center - 1.0 Fridays: Encores - 0.8-1.1 Grimm - 1.8 Dateline - 1.2 Sundays: Dateline - 1.2 Apprentice - 1.9 NBC hasn't announced all of its midseason schedule, so the pieces that are missing are what is currently airing. That is a lot of sub 2.0 shows. I think these numbers are the best at what their product will do. Without The Voice, it's a lot of bad news. |

I would think they'd want The Voice for February sweeps, the end of March is really late for it to come back.

I HOPE NBC DIES AND DROWNS IN A SEA OF HELLFIRE.
I'M SICK OF THE DAMN VOICE TAKING OVER THE TIME SLOTS OF MY PROGRAMS I WON'T STAND FOR IT. JUST MOVE ALL OF YOUR SHOWS TO FOX AND LET THEM DIE IN PEACE BECAUSE YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO PROMOTE THEM, YOU USELESS HACK OF A NETWORK. Oh, what's that? Why yes, I am in a rage at NBC because they are doing this with The Voice again. God damn American Idol rip-off CRAP.

I also think Sunday Night Football is responsible for a lot of it. They draw great ratings and get the best games because of the flex scheduling. So there in a good position whenever you get the NFL on your network. Also, I think believe or not, Norte Dame being very good this year has helped them as well because a lot of people are watching Norte Dame this year.
Based on what I've seen below with the ratings w/o The Voice, NBC needs a couple of shows to anchor The Voice because what if The Voice ratings falter? What do you do then? The sports fan in me will say they should pick up more sports. The NHL is on strike but I can see them picking up some Big East basketball or any sports when it becomes available. They might have to go that route because nothing else seems to work. Eventually, no matter how good the shows are, if nobody watches them, they'll get cancelled. |

Yes, a lot of the revival is due to The Voice and Sunday Night Football but they have had football for years and it hasn't made much of a difference. As for The Voice, one show CAN change an entire network, look at American Idol for FOX 10 years ago. It was the groundwork that led to success with shows like House, 24, Bones, Glee, etc.
I think they are turning things around but it's a process. They were smart to focus on the first three nights and not worry about Thursday yet. They can't fix everything at once. The new shows aren't tanking like past years even though not all are hits. Revolution actually is a hit so far, Go On has done pretty well, The New Normal is low but has its audience, Guys with Kids is low but has built on its lead-in, same for Chicago Fire. That's a more solid freshman class than they have had since... I don't even remember when. So it's a long way to go, but I think they're heading in the right direction and the same can't be said for the other networks right now. |
