Kelly Kapoor has "left the office," and now Mindy Kaling has moved on to a new series and a new life as Mindy Lahiri, an OB/GYN dealing with growing up and succeeding in relationships. It isn't that Mindy is completely hopeless. She's had plenty of relationships and has considered what it would be like to settle down in life... but it seems that things never quite work out as planned. In The Mindy Project, we get to follow Mindy as she navigates through growing up both professionally and personally.

What's so different about Mindy Kaling and her new Fox comedy, says Tim Goodman, is that she's a minority who's plus-sized and body confident. "In a perfect world," he writes, "'The Mindy Project' would be a triumph: a female person of color who is not a 'traditional' Hollywood size (but very reflective of the real world) gets her own show. And it’s really good. And it has a bright future. And maybe it will change the paradigm. But this isn’t a perfect world. There is little doubt that Kaling will be judged on her skin color, looks and weight – issues very rarely in consideration for male actors."
