I think this is a good move. I like CBS This Morning, and believe that O'Donnell can only make it better.

Norah O'Donnell Replaces Erica Hill on 'CBS This Morning'

Hill is in talks about a new role at CBS News, while the network will include O'Donnell at a planned TCA panel July 29, with Charlie Rose and Gayle King.

Norah O'Donnell has been named co-host of CBS This Morning, the network announced Thursday. She'll replace Erica Hill, who came to CBS News from CNN and was the lone anchor holdover from the CBS News Early Show.

Hill is discussing a new role with CBS News. O'Donnell will begin co-anchoring with Charlie Rose and Gayle King this fall. The network will introduce O'Donnell at a TCA panel for CBS This Morning on Sunday, July 29, that will also include Rose, King, CBS This Morning executive producer Chris Licht and CBS News president David Rhodes.

O'Donnell's profile at CBS News has risen rapidly since she joined the network last summer as chief White House correspondent after many years at NBC News. She'll begin contributing to 60 Minutes when that show returns from its usual summer hiatus. She recently filled in on CBS This Morning for the week of July 16. She has also filled in for Bob Schieffer on Face the Nation and she was out front on reporting on the Secret Service transgressions with prostitutes in Colombia earlier this year.

O'Donnell currently lives in Washington, D.C. with her husband (a D.C. restauranteur) and their three children.

Jeff Fager, chairman of CBS News and executive producer of 60 Minutes, lauded O'Donnell's reporting skills and work ethic.

"She’s a hard worker who knows her story and, as she has shown time after time at the White House, she can think on her feet on live television,” said Fager in a statement.

"Norah thrives on the kind of original reporting and newsmaker interviews that are the hallmark of CBS News and CBS This Morning,” added Rhodes. “She is the perfect addition to the best morning news program on television.”

“Norah has earned the respect of global newsmakers as a tough but fair reporter,” said Licht. “Adding her to the team is part of our ongoing process of improving and building on the solid foundation that already exists at CBS This Morning.”

No one watches CBS This morning so I think they could put me on there with no clothes on and not one person would be talking about it

Viewership is up 10%, but its quietness means that CBS This Morning doesn’t generate headlines like counterparts Today and GMA.
