Thumbs down This show is MIA!

I absolutely LOVED NYPD Blue; particularly during it's last two seasons so I have two questions... or rants actually.

First of all WHY is this show never shown on television anymore? I really miss it and I'd love to watch some older episodes and reacquaint myself!

And secondly WHY is this show taking FOREVER to get all of the seasons released on DVD? I am dying to buy the last two seasons and it's so frustrating to not even be able to watch it!

It irritates me that shows like Law and Order are shown constantly but NYPD Blue seems to be pushed to the side. Personally I think NYPD Blue is a much better show. I know that the two shows aren't exactly identical, but I am so sick of all these Law and Order spin offs, even though I do like Law and Order.

You'd think that twelve seasons of NYPD Blue wouldn't take so long to be released on DVD!

I agree with you. I feel the same way about the shows:

L.A. Law
and
Homicide : Life on the Street.

No reason they can't air them on TV.

NYPD Blue is so far superior to Law and Order its not even funny.

I have tried so many times to give LO a chance but it bores the hell outa me.

Dont understand why it doesn't get more airing on various channels. TnT back in the day had a daily airing at lunch time. I used to DVR it every day.

I agree, and I had totally forgotten that I had posted this thread! I don't get why they won't release the remaining seasons on DVD. Really ticks me off. And it's hardly ever on. Can't be that it's still considered controversial. It's tame compared to some shows now.

One major reason why NYPD Blue is practically forgotten about now despite being a massive hit during its original run is that it's not always being played in reruns. A big reason why is undoubtedly because it was a show that tried pushing boundaries on network TV with sex and nudity. It’s not as “safe” a crime show as many others from its time.
