Default LAUGH TRACK

i got my tv dvds of the complete series of mash for cheap at my local mall and i think the show seems better if you dont hear the audience making that annoying laugh during scenes that are not funny lol, Do you think this show is better with are without the laugh track ?

Yep, its better without pointless laughs. You know that is how the creaters of the show wanted it, but CBS in its infinite insanity forced them to use a laugh track.

some of the later episodes of "THE ALAN ALDA SHOW" aka "MASH" didn't have the laugh track. And one 3rd season episode didn't have it.

I think every show is better without a laugh track. It's one thing when a show is filmed in front of an actual audience, but a laugh track makes the jokes seem more forced on us, as if they feel that we're not bright enough to catch the jokes so the point they out and make them obvious to us.

That was never the intention of a laugh track, to tell people what to laugh at. Frankly, shows without a laugh track are just dull. Nowadays, the laugh track is funnier than the show.

I read somewhere once that without a laugh track on most shows there would be an awkward pause between most of the jokes and funny lines.

There is a somewhat ackward silence treky as you probably know watching the dvds, but I can honesty say, it's no big deal. I prefer the laugh track turned off. That, along with all the syndicated cut outs included, almost makes it like you're watching for the first time. I just wish they had a dvd Play All option.

I kind of wish they hadn't used the laugh track at all because I think shows are funnier when they don't have them.

they originally didn't want to have a laugh track in the show but CBS insisted on one. They let them remove it from the O.R. scenes though.

M*A*S*H creator Larry Gelbart called the laugh track a 'thorn in the side'

Ultimately, the network got the last laugh.
