Default Anyone remember why jumptheshark.com was bought by Tvguide?

This was one of the best TV sites on the internet and now when you try to go to the website it takes you right to Tvguide.com aka "Sh*tguide.com

Things just gets worst and worst on the internet and cable each year

they couldn't STAND the fact that there was a tv-related website out there that they hadn't RUINED yet - same thing they did with TV Tome, the TVGuide version is complete crap.

Jump the Shark used to be a lot of fun, and some of the reasons that people gave for shows jumping were pretty wild.

A website called "Bone the Fish" has picked up some of the slack since JTS was sold down the river. They have a page addressing JTS's sale to TV Guide with some details of the deal.

The original site was a fun place to visit and kill a little time. I used to check it quite often. But when TV Guide took it over, I found it cumbersome and difficult to navigate. After two or three efforts, I just gave up and never went back again.

I agree. I used to go on TV Tome sometimes and thought it was good but now its crap. Same goes for tv.com. I guess the best resources now are wikipedia and of course, Sitcoms Online!!!

You talk about jumptheshark.com? What about what happened to the tv guide magazine? Remember how good it used to be when it was like a booklet? Now, its like any other magazine but now its 4 bucks and light as a feather.

Yeah, I loved TV Tome, too. I actually wrote episode reviews for NYPD Blue on it. When they folded, they offered to send me a file of all my reviews in case I wanted them. I accepted. Very cool.

Jump the Shark was a huge time waster/guilty pleasure for me. Spent HOURS at a time there. Very addictive. I was enraged when TV Guide bought it and ruined it!

I was the editor for CPO Sharkey but could no longer continue when TVGuide bought it because at the time I was connected to the web through "webtv" and once the new site address started I could no longer access the site
