Report: Paul Brittain Leaving "SNL"

Paul Brittain is leaving "SNL" effective immediately, Entertainment Weekly reports.

The comedian "had the opportunity to pursue other projects, and he and the show parted ways amicably," a source tells the magazine. An e-mail to NBC was not immediately returned.

Brittain joined "SNL" in September 2010 as a featured player and was known for playing Lord Cecil Wyndemere, and his impressions of Johnny Depp and James Franco.

I liked him. He had precious little air time, though. This may be a good move for him, because I honestly couldn't see the day when he'd take center stage at SNL. Best of luck to him.

i liked him too - but he really only had a few brief chances to show off some of his great characters

The news about resident Bob Newhart nephew and adorable pigmy man-child Paul Brittain having left is breaking my heart way more than it should be. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to listen to Adele's "Someone Like You" on repeat.

i kind of liked him too i wish that annoying loudmouth jason sudeakius would follow paul;s example and quit too
