I like to believe (and I read this on Wikipedia so take it as you will), that The Jetsons when it was launched in 1962, was supposed to take place 100 years in the future.

In the episode where the Jetsons buy a new car from Molecular Motors, there is one scene (possibly edited out for syndication) where Henry shows George what he claims is a low-mileage 1964 sedan--which he starts amid a cacophony of bangs and wheezes and a huge cloud of smoke...so I honestly think the show was set in 2062....

100% correct (2062) as said in a recent episode of "CBS Sunday Morning" with Charles Kuralt comparing "How much did "The Jetsons" get right?" pretty much everything except the flying cars was the answer!

Yay! I love The Jetsons!

By the way, this page could be updated on its Amazon.com links- The Jetsons Season 2 Volume 2 was released on DVD in 2011.

well, judging by the fashions, extrapolating for George's hair cut and Judy's vernacular, carry the one, and my estimate is late 1986.

Did you mean Charles Osgood rather than Charles Kuralt (the former host of "CBS News Sunday Morning", or "CBS Sunday Morning" as you called it)?
