Default Oy, the Changes!

As some of you know, I'm watching Spin City from beginning to end for the first time. A couple things I didn't like along the way seemed to start with season four. For some reason they changed the theme song for the third time. The theme from seasons 2-3 was great and I disliked the season four theme. Also, Stacey Paterno was gone with no explanation. Caitlin Moore came in and became the co-star to Mike. That didn't bother me as much as it does some people, maybe because I was aware that was going to happen or because I know that Michael J. Fox has Parkinson's Disease and needs to share the workload with someone. So I look at it as she's coming in to help out.

All of that is really just jibber-jabber compared to going from "Goodbye - PART 2" to "Hello, Charlie." I can't overlook the absenses of James, Nikki and Janelle (well maybe Janelle, but not James and Nikki). It's too much Paul, Carter and Stuart. After watching 100 episodes with a large cast and now you lose three cast members, it's hard to carry on without an explanation and replacements. I know Angie eventually comes in as the new assistant (aka receptionist) but she doesn't have a big enough role to feel like anyone's replacement.

So even though I'm still glad to own all 6 seasons, the show suffers A LOT from the loss of Mike, James, Nikki and Janelle. The show is not as good, plain and simple.

Sorry for the bump, but I have to agree. I still remember when first watching this show from season 1 and it was great but as it went along and shed off so many cast members my family and I quickly lost interest. It really is a shame because the show was great otherwise but weakened as it went because it simply couldn't replace any of the characters it lost.

I'd say the series in its prime would be seasons two and three. It had the best theme song. It was the funniest. And it had the perfect cast (Stacey Paterno was good to have around). It's a few years after I finished watching the complete series, and I'm watching random episodes throughout the six seasons, and I'm loving the Michael J. Fox years again, but the Charlie Sheen years just fall flat.

Sorry to bump too, but I agree too!

I stopped watching with season 4, couldn't bear Heather Locklear's character, and thought it was realy bad that they "fired" Jennifer Esposito with no explanation whatsoever.
Stacey was a terrific character, and if ever they should've give her more screentime.

Anyway, season 2 and 3 were incredibly funny.
It has not enough drama or heart to be my very favorite sitcom; but if I'd have to judge solely on the laughs, this would be the best sitcom ever.

ps. Adamantium were you the one that suggesed me to watch Newsradio?
