In bringing the Stone Age family the Flintstones to the silver screen in 1994, moviemakers filled the role of mild-mannered and slender Betty Rubble with outspoken and not-so-slender Rosie O'Donnell, who reportedly nailed the part because she could mimic the cartoon original's distinctive laugh.

I liked Rosie in the role, she played the part well, and I think that's what we should appreciate an actor or actress for is how they play they part. I'd rather see her play it than some slender annorexic twit who can't act the part.
What about Liz Taylor and Wilma's mother, why dont people complain about that? Not only did she not look like Wilma's mother, but she didn't even ACT liker her! |

I dunno...having Rosie O'Donnel as Betty during her "Nice" Years seems to work fine.
If you want worst casting...how about Russel Brand in "Arthur"? Mike Myers should've gotten the role! |

But who cares if Rosie is "nice" or not, she's an actress playing a part. Her portrayl of Betty would be nice whether or not Rosie is nice or not in real life.

Well when you think about it, a movie based on a cartoon is just plain stupid so I don't think it would have mattered who was cast in the roles; although John Goodman as Fred was a pretty good pick.

Wasn't Janine Turner the first choice to play Betty before Rosie O'Donnell "nailed" her audition by doing Betty's laugh?
