Honestly, the song has kind of grown on me. I dont think its that bad as everyone says it is. I guess if people dont like it, they dont like it.

What really sucks is that NBC has the Super Bowl this season. And thus, like the last time that they had it back in 2008, they're going to most likely, trot Faith Hill out to perform another kitchy, unintentional parody of that Joan Jett song (but modified to reflect the Super Bowl).

Never send a pop singer to do a rock-n-roll singer's job.
Faith's husband, Tim McGraw, had a great song out a few years ago called "Back When". One of the modern-day things he "complains" about in that song is the fact that "they put Pop in my Country". He should speak to his wife about that, she started it. The SNF "theme" is set to the tune of "I Hate Myself for Loving You", originally done by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. It's a rock and roll song that doesn't work with a pop performer like Hill. Hill is lame in that intro. A beautiful lady, no question about that... but it just doesn't work. And yeah, the graphics of the players is pretty stupid. I never turn on the broadcast until just after 8:30, that way I don't have to watch the pre game show or the intro. I never liked Hank Williams Jr's intro either when he had the gig for MNF I never thought HW Jr was all that great to begin with. |

I checked out the video at the link (it's at the bottom of the SportsGrid article). No offense to Faith, but I thought it was pretty dumb.

I really don't like anyone singing at me before a game, especially if it sounds like something from Glee. The stations should just play their instrumentals. All of them get you pumped for the games, especially the MNF song. Although I did watch the Hank Williams intros I really don't miss them.

To me, networks that feel the need to use a popular singer to intro their sports coverage, is just a case of TV networks selling out in order to appeal to a "hipper" or younger audience (it cheapens the coverage if you ask me and lacks in substance). For example, remember when ABC used the Pussycat Dolls to sing "Right Now" at the start of their NBA telecasts?

Like I mentioned before, I dont mind it. Faith Hill is pretty easy on the eyes
I kind of get pumped because of the song. One thing I can do without is all the shots of the guys who are not in the game that night. Show a couple of shots but focus on the actual players that are playing. Ex. if the Giants are playing the Cowboys, you can have a shot of Brady, Peyton Manning, etc. but the opening should focus on Tony Romo, Dez Byrant, Eli Manning, Victor Cruz, Hakeem Nicks etc.
