Makes sense. The previews look horrid and even the ads for it are borderline offensive. I hear she's funny, but the sitcom itself doesn't look so great. I don't think it will last.

My dad already has a crush on that girl. He finds her "hot, hot, hot"! (His words, not mine.

Well, for NBC's stake, it BETTER do good in the ratings because it was the one show they really promoted the heck out of. lol

The trouble with "Whitney" that it's hard to separate Cummings the standup comic who's recycling her act from Whitney the photographer and sitcom character. As Robert Bianco notes, "The main character is too loud, too dominant and far too central; the lines all sound as if they were written to be delivered by a performer rather than spoken in conversation; and the supporting characters are ciphers who exist merely to reflect or foil the star." "Whitney" may be "the most unself-awarely retro-sexist show on television" http://www.salon.com/life/feature/20..._retro_se xist "Whitney" doesn't fit in on NBC Thursdays with its stale sitcom cliches http://www.boston.com/ae/tv/articles...y_is_witles s/ Whitney is writing for herself as a standup, not "Whitney" http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/articl...D9U1L67LA .DTL Seems like NBC hasn't taken the reins off Cummings http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/rev...-review-238763 How bad is the "Whitney" ad campaign? // Is Cummings "hoarding" shows? http://www.nerve.com/news/tv/its-off...gn-for-whitney // http://theclicker.today.com/_news/20...etwork-sitcoms |
