Music AOL Music: "Top Music Video Celebrity Cameos"

Top Music Video Celebrity Cameos
Posted by Contessa Gayles
July 7, 2011

There is sometimes nothing better than a good-old music video cameo. "Oh! That's the guy from ...!" you yell with excitement at the sight of a recognizable face.

Recording artists know the power of an appearance from a fellow celeb, and routinely solicit Hollywood A-listers, quirky comedians, and their musician colleagues to star, or sometimes only briefly grace us with their fleeting presence, in the ever-captivating cameo.

In honor of the stars who lend their talents, or sometimes just their mugs, to our favorite songs, we're counting down the most memorable music video celeb cameos.

25. John Stamos in Low's 'Try To Sleep'

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXgc0I0zsYs

Actor John Stamos plays a dashing leading man on an old Hollywood film set as he cruises in a convertible and lip syncs the lyrics to Low's melancholy tune.

He'll always be Uncle Jesse to us!

24. Tyrese Gibson in Lady Gaga's 'Telephone'

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EVBsypHzF3U

Actor/model/singer Tyrese Gibson appears as Beyonce's womanizing, deadbeat boyfriend, whom B takes great pleasure in poisoning to death via tainted pancake syrup in this Lady Gaga visual cacophony.

23. Megan Fox and Dominic Monaghan in Eminem's 'Love the Way You Lie'

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uelHwf8o7_U

Sex symbol ... and actress, Megan Fox, is the victim of domestic violence at the hands of Brit actor Dominic Monaghan in this Eminem video, but throws some blows herself.

Apparently the co-stars' characters can relate to Rihanna's love of S&M relationships.

22. Christina Hendricks in Broken Bells' 'The Ghost Inside'

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rVxTsXRjNTw

Actress Christina Hendricks is a fiery-haired space traveler in this sci-fi-themed Broken Bells video.

The vid also features several scenes of Hendricks bathing poolside in "Mad Men"-esque 1950s style.

21. Jon Hamm in Herman Dune's 'Tell Me Something I Don't Know'

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tOqN6k4lDBo

From one "Mad Men" star to the next, actor Jon Hamm picks up a furry hitchhiker friend on his way to a Herman Dune concert in this goofy, feel-good video.

20. Kim Basinger in Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers' 'Mary Jane's Last Dance'

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aowSGxim_O8

This dark video features Tom Petty as a morgue assistant who kidnaps a dead woman, played by the lovely-even-while-diseased, Kim Basinger.

Kim is wined and dined and subjected to "one last dance" with the creepy necrophiliac.

19. James Van Der Beek in Ke$ha's 'Blow'

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CFWX0hWCbng

Party-girl hitmaker Ke$ha seduces/insults none other than James Van Der Beek, whom we're guessing she crushed on hard while watching "Dawson's Creek" as a pre-teen.

"James Van Der Douche" and "Keh Dollar Sign Ha" engage in a hilarious war of words before battling in a war of rainbow guns.

18. Bruce Willis in Gorillaz' 'Stylo'

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nhPaWIeULKk

Action star Bruce Willis is not far from his Die Hard roots in this action-packed Gorillaz video.

The song makes for the perfect soundtrack to Willis' aviator-wearing, gun-slinging car chase.

17. Keanu Reeves in Paula Abdul's 'Rush, Rush'

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqyIaNWP0T0

Before The Matrix, Keanu Reeves was Paula Abdul's "chosen one" in this Rebel Without a Cause-inspired video.

It may be a forbidden love, but who could resists those long locks flowing in the wind? Check out the lip-locking finale!

16. Dustin Diamond and Ali Landry in 98 Degrees' 'I Do (Cherish You)'

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1kofixtz2Us

Former Miss USA and model-turned-actress Ali Landry is the woman of all four 98 Degrees boys' dreams.

The grooms-to-be are all shocked to find one another trying to marry the same babe, but the real twist is that Landry doesn't choose any of the boy banders, opting for a trip down the aisle with the awesomely awkward Dustin Diamond, aka Screech from "Saved by the Bell", instead.

15. Scarlett Johansson in Bob Dylan's 'When the Deal Goes Down'

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CEoGqUqy-0w

Scarlett Johansson may have cameoed in Justin Timberlake's 'What Goes Around .../... Comes Around' video, but we prefer her dreamy performance in the 1950s home movie-esque Bob Dylan video.

14. Liv Tyler and Alicia Silverstone in Aerosmith's 'Crazy'

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NMNgbISmF4I

Just before her "Clueless" heyday, Alicia Silverstone co-starred along with Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler's actress daughter Liv Tyler in this questionable video.

Sure, rock videos feature scantily clad cameos from under-aged hotties all the time, but Steven caused quite a stir when he cast his own, then-teenage daughter in the sexually suggestive role.

13. Michael Cera in Islands' 'No You Don't'

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aTzA8XejLxE

Off-beat actor Michael Cera and his always endearing dorkiness were right at home in this fantastical Islands visual spectacular.

Cera's schoolboy character takes a psychedelic trip after experimenting with pill popping.

12. Christopher Mintz-Plasse in Kid Cudi's 'Erase Me'

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ICaTsTkBPV8

Christopher Mintz-Plasse is Kid Cudi's hard-partying, wig-wearing, baby-faced drummer in this music vid.

All in all it's not a far cry from his immmature drinking days as McLovin in Superbad.

11. Eddie Murphy, Iman and More in Michael Jackson's 'Remember the Time'

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LeiFF0gvqcc

Only Michaal Jackson could move so many celebs to want to work with him.

This ancient Egypt-themed video boasts cameos from the likes of Eddie Murphy, Iman, the Pharcyde, Magic Johnson, Tom "Tiny" Lister, Jr. and Wylie Draper.

10. Donald Glover, Jon Oliver and More in The New Pornographers' 'Moves'

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sYyu5vbwvbA

This hilarious New Pornographers' video is crammed with more than just cocaine -- it features cameos from comedian/actors Donald Glover, Jon Oliver, Horatio Sanz, Jon Wurster, Kevin Corrigan, Michael Lisk, Julie Klausner, Wyatt Cynac and more.

The movie trailer for 'Expectant Dads' at beginning is fake, by the way, adding Paul Rudd and Bill Hader to the list of cameo spots.

9. Joe Jonas, Jake Gyllenhaal and More in Vampire Weekend's 'Giving Up the Gun'

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bccKotFwzoY

Actor Jake Gyllenhaal and one third of the Jonas Brothers trio, Joe Jonas, battle it out on the tennis court against a hard-hitting female competitor (who kicks their short shorts-wearing behinds) in this Vampire Weekend video.

Rapper RZA officiates the match, while Lil Jon plays the athlete's French-speaking coach.

8. Zach Galifinakis in Fiona Apple's 'Not About Love'

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u09s0uz0tEU

It takes a very funny man to make you laugh at an angsty, sullen, spiteful Fiona Apple tune, and actor/comedian Zach Galifinakis is that man.

Watch him mock Fiona as he plays her "stupid" yet loavble boyfriend in this hilariously charming video.

7. Christopher Walken in Fatboy Slim's 'Weapon of Choice'

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCDIYvFmgW8

Actor Christopher Walken's crazy legs have the ultimate cameo in this Fatboy Slim video.

Walken was trained as a dancer in musical theater prior to his film career, and it shows as he tap dances, leaps and twirls around in an otherwise empty hotel.

6. Kanye West, Pharrell Williams and More in Duck Sauce's 'Barbara Streisand'

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uu_zwdmz0hE

Duck Sauce's 'Barbra Streisand' video is one big music industry superstar cameo party.

Kanye West, Pharrell, Ryan Leslie, Chromeo, Diplo, Questlove, Santigold and tons more make an appearance in this vid.

The only one missing is Barbra!

5. Pamela Anderson, Nia Long and Tracee Ellis Ross in Kanye West's 'Touch the Sky'

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SwhkArCziq8

Pamela Anderson plays Kanye West's concerned girlfriend who bounces around (as only she can) begging for Evel Kanyevel not to blast himself off in a rocket.

Enter the Pamela haters played by actresses Tracee Ellis Ross and Nia Long, who also gets a shout-out in the song. Jealous stank eyes ensue.

4. Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell and More in George Michael's 'Freedom! '90'

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=diYAc7gB-0A

George Michael's video is '90s supermodel cameo heaven.

Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington and Tatjana Patitz all together in one six-minute vid? Yes, please!

And let's not forget the boys: male models John Pearson, Mario Sorrenti and Peter Formby also make an appearance.

3. Rebeca Black, Debbie Gibson and More in Katy Perry's 'Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)'

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KlyXNRrsk4A

"Glee" stars Darren Criss and Kevin McHale totally love Katy Perry's character Kathy Beth Terry for the awesome party she threw the night before...

aided by YouTube sensation Rebecca Black, and the rager's live entertainment courtesy of Hanson and saxophonist Kenny G. '80s popstar Debbie Gibson and actor Corey Feldman play Kathy's disappointed parents the morning after in this hilarious, cameo-packed video.

2. Ron Howard, Forest Whitaker and More in Jamie Foxx's 'Blame It (On the Alcohol)'

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rfjtpp90lu8

Jamie Foxx's video features one of the most star-studded cast of cameos ever.

Ron Howard, Forest Whitaker, Jake Gyllenhaal and Samuel L. Jackson all star as O.G.s, while Quincy Jones, Cedric the Entertainer, Mos Def, Tatyana Ali and many more get loose in the video.

How did Foxx convince the A-listers to appear in his vid? "Blame it on the alcohol!"

1. Seth Rogen, Will Farrell and More in Beastie Boys' 'Fight for Your Right (Revisited)'

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evA-R9OS-Vo

This Beastie Boys video is one of the most celeb-packed vids around -- never mind the extended version, which is actually a short film.

The cast of cameos includes Seth Rogen, Will Ferrel, John C. Reilly, Jack Black, Elijah Wood, Susan Sarandon, Ted Danson, Will Arnett, Stanley Tucci, Orlando Bloom and many more.

Phew! Can you spot them all?

how about Elisha Cuthbert in weezer's "Perfect Situation" video - the whole video is about her being the leader of the band, but she's a total psychopath on a rampage.

My all-time favorite is Ben Stiller's cameo as a sarcastic neighbor in P. Diddy's "Bad Boy for Life" video, which also has Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg and disgraced celebrity show host Pat O'Brien in it too.

Other good cameos:

Tommy Lee in Missy Elliot's "Lost Control"
Stevie Nicks in Destiny Child's "Bootylicious"
Marianne Faithfull in Metallica's "The Memory Remains" (she does the creepy la-las in the song)
Seth Green and Donny Osmond in Weird Al Yankovic's "White and Nerdy"
Captain Lou Albano in Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun"
LaToya Jackson and Linda McCartney in Michael Jackson & Paul McCartney's "Say Say" Say"
Patti Smith in REM's "E-bow the Letter"

If this video somehow, was remade today, then I would first and foremost, want to see Taylor Swift as Mary Jane. I say this because Taylor I think, bares a close resemblance to Kim Basinger, to the point in which they could literally pass off as mother and daughter. Yes, Taylor has a much different body type than Kim's (Taylor is tall and lanky while Kim is about 5'7 and voluptuous), but still the basic similarities are there. Hell, Taylor's princess dress in her "Love Story" video is quite similar to the dress that Kim wears on her "romantic date" w/ Tom Petty.

And speaking of celebrity cameos in music videos, you can now add Taylor Swift's "Bad Blood".
