Default What Made 'Growing Pains' Jump the Shark More?

The birth of Chrissy or Kirk Cameron becoming an on-the-set tyrant after he became a Born Again Christian? And keep in mind that this stuff happened way before Leonardo DiCaprio showed up.

Neither affected GP that much if you ask me, and I haven't seen the Leo episodes yet, so can't comment on those.

I agree.

The only thing that was notaceable involving Kirk was letting Julie go. Other than that the show was still good.

Neither, but that 7th season (IMO) really sucked.

Not the birth of Chrissy, but the fact that they then aged her to be a cute little sitcom kid who said "funny" lines.

I finished watching GP at the end of last month, and while Season 7 was worse than the rest of the show, it was still quite good, and better than most shows on TV today. I would buy a complete series box set in a flash!

Ashley Johnson, who played 6 year old Chrissy, was an adorable kid, but I think so adorable that she gave everyone and anyone a toothache. The writers perhaps in hindsight, should have never aged her after she was born. But I suppose the popularity of the show was waning and they went to the old go-to of bringing on a sickeningly saccharine sweet kid (in sort of an Olsen Twins on Full House cutesy-poo/smart aleck thing) to salvage the ratings.
