Brett Butler recalls addiction saga that got her Chuck Lorre sitcom canceled

The former "Grace Under Fire" star, who's now 12 years sober and living on a farm in Georgia, hasn't been following the Charlie Sheen saga. But she can relate: "It was just getting ridiculous," she says. "It's a rarefied playing field to have your own show and everything you need. There's just something inside of me that could not get filled up on this alone."

It's sad what happened to that show. For the first 3 years it was one of the best sitcoms on tv and then the bottom fell out.

I didn't the show was a Cuck Lorre show. That was way back before all the shows he has now. I don't think ther's any show he doesn't make a hit.

I only watched the first three seasons, myself. I stopped watching when Quentin was replaced by a different actor. I hate when shows do that.

My understanding is that the original Quentin was replaced after Brett Butler went too far with a sex joke, and the actor's mother had him removed from the show.

I hope she's able to revamp her career. She was funny and she deserves a second chance.

Brett Butler really has nobody to blame but herself for her downfall. She was literally a drug addict who never realized that she had to work much longer than she was willing in order to get to the point where she could call the shots. Plus, she was not important enough to the network to be able to demand control a la Roseanne Barr. And when Brett didn't get what she wanted, she acted like everyone else was against her. At the end of the day, she didn't know how to act like a professional and let her ego ruin everything.

Supposedly, Brett Butler started to become more manic/bipolar (plus, she had more severe addiction issues) somewhere between the end of Season and the middle of Season 3.
