Update: MTV Decides Not to Pick Up Lauren Conrad's Fashion Reality Show
Lauren Conrad Returns to MTV for Third Reality Series
Sept 24, 2010 by Kate Stanhope MTV just can't let go of Lauren Conrad, the girl next door from "Laguna Beach" who became a tabloid fixture and the network's biggest star with the advent of "The Hills". Conrad announced Friday that she will be returning to the network that made her famous, starring in what will be her third reality series. Her new series will focus almost exclusively on her professional career as she tries to start her own fashion house from scratch. Gail Berman and Lloyd Braun will produce. Conrad told On 'Air with Ryan Seacrest' that filming will start around October. "I am so excited to be rejoining the MTV family," she told MTV News in a statement. "The new project will follow me as I develop my new contemporary line and also touch on my other businesses." Conrad is also a New York Times best-selling author. Whether or not she can establish herself as a credible fashion designer has yet to be seen. http://www.tvguide.com/News/Lauren-C...V-1023640.aspx |

MTV Says "No" to Lauren Conrad's Reality Show
Feb 4, 2011 by Gina DiNunno MTV has passed on a reality show following the work life of Lauren Conrad, Entertainment Weekly reports. "She did do a pilot. There were talks about whether we could somehow manage to put together a special based on that footage but that's also a big question mark based on her interest in that and the finances," MTV exec David Janollari told the magazine. "We love her! We would love her on our network! It was a great attempt but it just didn't feel like a perfect fit for us now." Conrad slammed the network Friday for passing on the pilot, which centered on the starlet's flourishing fashion line. "We sold a show to MTV, filmed it and are really proud of the final result," Conrad told The Hollywood Reporter in a statement. "MTV felt the subject matter was too high brow for their audience and offered me the opportunity to change the show by incorporating more of my personal life." "The Hills" star, 24, said that she and the network agreed going into the project that the show would focus on her career and goals as opposed to her personal relationships. "We delivered the show that we sold and are sorry MTV didn't feel their viewers were savvy enough to appreciate it," she said. http://www.tvguide.com/News/MTV-Laur...d-1028904.aspx |

Conrad says she and MTV were at odds over the final result: "MTV felt the subject matter was too high brow for their audience and offered me the opportunity to change the show by incorporating more of my personal life. We agreed going into the project that this show would be an aspirational one, focusing on my career and my goals and not my personal relationships." |
