Default The List of All-Time CW TV Network 'Whining Topics'

http://tvbythenumbers.com/2010/07/21...#disqus_thread

- Canceling Everwood
- Resurrecting 7th Heaven for a lackluster 11th and final season
- Reba's final season treated badly
- Not enough promo for Smallville and Supernatural
- Canceling Veronica Mars, Gilmore Girls
- Canceling All of Us, Girlfriends, The Game, Everybody Hates Chris
- Canceling Reaper and Privileged
- Having the Pussycat Dolls search reality show replacing Veronica Mars for some time
- Treating Gossip Girl highly despite so-so ratings
- Poor treatment of shows they inherited from WB/UPN
- Moving Smallville to Friday
- Having an ANTM repeat as Smallville's lead out on Fridays
- The "young, rich, white girls with issues' station / focusing on the young women demo too much
- Green-lighting Melrose Place remake and keeping it on the air despite horrendous ratings
- Not picking the pilots of Aquaman and Body Politic
- The existence of such shows like High Society, Fly Girls
- The long time of having their shows on repeat
- Their sucky ratings (Univision and some cable channels beating them)
- "The WB" is way better than "The CW"
and of course the handsdown #1 cause for CW Whining
- Dawn Ostroff

The only things that have bugged me about the CW is the resurrection of 7th Heaven. 7th Heaven didn't deserve to last as long as did. Bringing back to the CW was a dumb move and canning Everwood as a result was also a dumb move. Everwood had much better acting and writing than 7th Heaven. The only person with talent on 7th Heaven was Jessica Biel and she got out of the show at the right time.

As for Gilmore Girls, the show ended at the right time and the original creators weren't involved with the final season due to their contract ending before the WB/UPN merger.

I think CW treated the inherited WB shows better than the UPN ones. One Tree Hill and Smallville have lasted too long. Smallville still has some quality while OTH drags out too much. The main reason the Melrose Place remake remained on for an entire season is because the show did have some critical acclaim and Katie Cassidy received a lot of praise. Critical acclaim helps some shows stay on the air. Sometime when a show has a low ratings it doesn't mean the quality of the show is bad. Sadly some of the current high ratings shows aren't great at all while some low ratings shows actually have actors and actresses who are talented. Katie's acting on MP was much better than some of the acting by Sophia Bush, Leighton Meester and Blake Lively on their shows.

You know another problem I had that I dont think was mentioned. I didnt like the fact that shows took way too much time off. What I mean is that a show like One Tree Hill would have there final new episode in November and not come back until Jan. Sometimes it would be even longer. I remember they stopped airing One Tree Hill and then showed an entire run of another series and then showed the rest of the One Tree Hill season!!
