The show was a pardoy of "Dallas", which was very popular at the time, and Filthy Rich wne through the ratings, and was #1 for 5 straight weeks. The show was about a business in a fictional town in Texas, and it just made fun of romance and series issues...it did well with it, and Dixie Carter was the over-sexed secretary in it. It returned 2 monthes later after it's 5 week premire...but this time people weren't watching anymore...and it was taken off the air.

I saw the episodes, "Some Like It Not" and "The Kidnapping Of Stanley".

"Some Like It Not" was when Big Guy Beck wanted to get into a special club that his father used to be at...but it's not open to only women...so Big Guy decides that he wants to hold a meeting with the girls to let men into the club for the sake of enrolling their reletives, but to do this...Big Guy has to dress up in drag.

"The Kidnapping Of Stanley" was when Marshall and Stanley went to the town park together, and a kidnapper kidnapped Stanley, and held him for ransom at a price of $500 million bucks.

I saw em at the Museum Of Tv and Radio in NYC.

Arrow Filthy Rich

Information on the 1982 sitcom can be found in IMDB.com
(Internet Movie Data Base). This site is great for finding out about different TV shows, movies, and actors.
Also listed in the IMDB page, is the address/link to a message board for "Filthy Rich."
Hope this site helps.

Default "Filthy Rich"

Like "Joanie Loves Chachi", "Rich" got artificially high ratings during a summer run against RERUNS, but flopped once it was added to the fall schedule against first-run programming

THE REASON FILTHY RICH FLOPPED IS BECAUSE CBS MOVED THE SHOW FROM MONDAY NIGHT WHICH CBS DOMINATED FOR MANY YEARS TO WEDNESDAY NIGHTS AGAINST TWO POPULAR SHOWS FALL GUY ON ABC AND FAMILY TIES ON NBC.

Hold on a second.... Sorry callmetootie, you're only part-right on the premise of the show. Yes, it was a spoof of Dallas/Dynasty, but it had nothing to do with a business nor was Dixie Carter a secretary. Perhaps you're thinking of Jean Smart playing a secretary in "Reggie."

Anyway, the show revolved around the descendants of Southen billionaire Big Buy Beck. The family patriarch dies and is cryogenically frozen. Big Guy stipulates in his video-will that his family, who all lives in the family mansion, has to welcome and accept his trashy illigitimate son, Wild Bill Westchester (Jerry Hardin) and his wife, Bootsie (Ann Wedgeworth). But the snobby Becks don't take kindly to their newfound hick relatives.... Dixie Carter played Carlotta Beck, the holy-than-thou wife of Big Guy's eldest son. And Delta Burke played Kathleen Beck, the trophy second wife of Big Guy's (who made it clear that she was only after his money).

There's more info and a cast picture at the address below (though the episode guide itself is far from complete). Two different versions of the theme song should be added to sitcomsonline in the next update.

Forgotten TV: Filthy Rich (1982)

Quote:
During the 70's & 80's, the networks were not afraid to poke fun at the soap opera genre that was dominating daytime television. ABC was the most successful with Soap, which lasted four seasons (1977-81). NBC flopped with 1979's Highcliffe Manor. The syndicated Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman didn't last as long as you'd think, just a couple of years, and it copied the five-days-a-week format of the daytime sudsers.

CBS entered the picture in 1982 with Filthy Rich, which centered on the squabbling Beck family, who were hoping to gain an inheritance after their father, Big Guy Beck, had passed on. Only 15 episodes were produced before CBS pulled the plug.

Film vet Slim Pickens was originally cast as Big Guy, but health issues forced him out after the first pilot, replaced by Forrest Tucker (ex-F-Troop, Ghost Busters). Big Guy would appear via videotape, while the family was divided into factions. The cast also included soap veterans Ann Wedgeworth (ex-The Edge of Night, Another World), whose last foray into primetime was a brief run on Three's Company a couple of years earlier, and Charles Frank (ex-All My Children). Nedra Volz came over from Dukes of Hazzard to play Big Guy's first wife, who was now dealing with age issues (i.e. senility).

Here's the intro:

Creator-producer-writer Linda Bloodworth would later reunite with Delta Burke & Dixie Carter in developing the more successful Designing Women, and brought back Wedgeworth to co-star with Burt Reynolds and friends in Evening Shade.

So why did it fail? Soap had been gone for a year by the time CBS green-lit Filthy Rich after its second pilot, and since the former was in syndication by this point, viewers preferred it to the new kid on the block. Even airing in front of M*A*S*H on Mondays didn't help during the 2nd season.
