I just read in several places that the entire cast did a broadway play back in 1985, that allowed the characters to wrap things up and tie loose ends. Did anybody else know this? I would love to find out what it was about.

I never heard about that. Too bad they didn't film it and air it as a TV movie!

I've repeatedly asked if anyone has seen it or at least knows what the storyline is but NO ONE has said anything. That's hard to believe because they must've toured the country and some person must've videotaped it at least once. I bet that video is worth quite a lot of money even if it's not the best quality. I guess someone would have to contact the actual production company or maybe someone with Norman Lear would know? Actually someone should just ask Marla Gibbs or Sherman Helmsley since they'd know. Of course we just can't do it but someone in the media should. |

![]() Notice the date. Marla and Sherman were busy doing other series in the 80s. Also, I found one source that said the live shows were re-stagings of series episodes rather than a finale. |

TDRyan, thanks for posting that.
But those tickets are from the 90s not the 80s. Did you mistakenly type 80s when you meant to type 90s? Are you saying Marla and Sherman were not with the Jeffersons on Stage? I could've SWORN I heard the entire reason they did the Jeffersons on stage was to have the series finale that they never got to have on TV! There must've been something NEW with the Jeffersons on stage that we didn't see on the series don't you think?? |

In my head canon, I would consider the two part "Sayonara" episode (the one in which Lionel and Jenny announce that they're getting divorced) from Season 11 to be the de facto series finale, if we're talking about something that was actually filmed. I guess that I like to imagine Louise in the living room with both the Jeffersons and Willises present saying "Now, that is a family!" when her granddaughter Jessica's torn drawing is taped back together could've been a nice and sweet little way to end the series on. Especially when the screen freezes, turns black and white, and is placed within a wooden picture frame type of graphic.
