To put things in perspective, from my understanding, Time Warner doesn't really have much say in the CW (it's in other words, essentially, UPN under a different name). The CW from the very start has been a horribly mismanaged (thank you Dawn Ostroff) venture. Also, it's seems like MyNetwork TV (which was created in light of the closure of the WB and UPN as independent networks in 2006) is going to close shop now that SmackDown! is about to move to SyFy. When I look at television now, I kind of get the sense that ABC Family is trying to be a basic cable surrogate to the former WB.

The truth is this. when UPN and WB launched in 1994 there was a sense by most involved that neither network would last out the decade. Most believed eventually they would be forced to merge; it ended up taking longer than most believed for this to happen, the networks lasted into the 2000's and The WB was for the first time about to make a profit after operating on a deficit for all those years. I believe honestly that the merger should NOT have happened, i would have liked to see the WB continue on as it's own entity for a bit longer.
With that said, at this point, trying to relaunch would not work. The WB and UPN are dead. There's no going back. I don't think CW has been very successful, not in any way, but trying to relaunch the WB wouldn't work either. |

I wish that regular standard UHF networks would come back and just play syndication blocks supported by studios as they did back in the 1990s before UPN or WB premiered. I never liked the WB/UPN/CW/MNTV format and how most of the day the networks show infomercials instead of show reruns.
