I have been a fan of this show for years and the one thing I have noticed in the last two seasons is the world of Dunder-Mifflin becoming a not so nice place.
Jim and Pam have become very judgmental and petty and their treatment of Michael is horrible. Now... SPOILERS AHEAD... it looks like the 6th season storyline will deal with the possible closing/bankruptcy of the company and I am wondering where it goes next? The "fun" and "innocence" of the show seem to be long gone and it looks like things are going to get a lot more tense before these characters relax. Something tells me that the wedding was the last "happy" moment this series sees for quite some time. What do you guys think? CBW |

The downer recession storylines has gotten to Meghan Keane, who writes: "Now Jim has developed into the most depressing archetype: a mediocre man who has already realized his full potential. Gone is Jim's charming lack of enthusiasm for his job. Now he's proving exactly where a lack of drive is likely to lead you—to the mediocrity of middle management, where one is gripped by the fear of losing whatever corner of inanity you've carved for yourself in the workplace." |

The Office is one show that I want to like, but just can't get into it, no matter how many times I watch it. I've seen shows change like this before, though. They run their course for too long and then it's all downhill from there. It's a shame really.

I guess they feel the show should reflect what's going on in the world. |
