Post Nurses

Im just finding out that Nurses was another spin-off of the Golden Girls/Empty Nest. I never new that. If it was im surprised it didnt last longer. I would like to see it. I think Lifetime should pick up Nurses, the Golden Palace, Empty Nest and Women of the House. I would really like to see all of those shows. I remember Empty Nest, but i have never seen the rest. Was Nurses on Saturdays with GG and EN? Did Susan Harris create this show as well? If someone could let me know that would be great, thanks.

Hi, Nurses was on Saturdays. It was a cute show. I didn't care for it too much when they brought on Loni Anderson, I guess I'm just not a fan of hers. I remember they had some crossover episodes with Empty Nest and Golden Girls. I didn't know it was spin-off.

Yeah, I know that it is a spin-off and that it took place on the third floor of the same hospital Harry Weston and Lavern worked at on Empty Nest.

Nurses was a great show, i liked it after loni but yeah i agree that it was better before they brought Loni Anderson on. Nurses was a spin-off of EMPTY NEST which was a GOLDEN GIRLS spin-off.

Cool

I liked Nurses a lot better than Golden Girls and Empty Nest (never got the point of those 2 shows). I'd love to see the reruns again.

Lifetime showed repeats of Nurses in the summer of 1996. They aired it like 3 times a day. I doubt they would bring it back due to just being 3 seasons (1991-1994).

Nurses was very different each season.

Season 1 - It was more of a family show, the humor was dry, the cast was not as offensive.

Season 2 - Totally different with the addition of Jack Trenton. Show became more humorous, upbeat.

Season 3 - Exact opposite of Season 1, with Loni Anderson joining, it almost took away the fact of the show having Nurses.

The trouble was that the show didn't know what it wanted to be. And they had so many characters on there over three seasons. It originally was supposed to be an ensemble show about a group of female nurses who worked at the same hospital as Harry Weston from Empty Nest, but by the end it became about Loni Anderson's head of staff as well as David Rasche's sleazy con-artist character (who was brought in a bit earlier) and their attempts to form a relationship.
