Default Problems: Double Standard Between Jodie Sweetin & the Olsens?

I'm not necessarily trying to defend or make excuses for Jodie Sweetin's personal troubles of late. However, I find it interesting that the media won't delve into the presumably hard partying lifestyle of her "Full House" co-stars Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. I mean, MK's stint in rehab could've really been about drugs (both Olsen's are heavy smokers and partiers by the way). It's just that her PR people conjured up the "eating disorder" storyline in order to protect her and her sister's image as young, squeeky clean media moguls. Granted, Ashley is supposedly the more "well adjusted" twin, but that's not to say that she's more careful than her sister.

I find it interesting too that the media doesn't think much of twin's partying lifestyles. Other celebrities have confirmed that the Olsens frequent a lot of clubs. I think the Olsens might have that lifestyle mainly because they aren't doing a lot of acting.

What are they doing nowadays?? Now that I think about it, besides Weeds, I haven't heard from either twin...

Isn't one of them going to college? And another one just acting I bet neither one of them have to lift a finger they are set for the rest of their lives due to all the $$ they made when they were kids!

Exactly. Thank goodness Candace Cameron has her head on straight. With being a wife, mom, a missionary and actress she was and still is a wonderful role model!!

Well I don't know if it counts as a "double standard" but whenever there are children involved the media likes to go crazy on the story.

Divorce cases, especially when it deals with custody battles, seem to attract more notice than two young adults going to bars.

yah, her family was really religious so they wanted to move away from hollywood and go on with their normal lives.

Oh No

The real difference? A few MILLION dollars. (Not to mention a lot of powerful business people and celebrities). The Olsens can afford the best legal team in the country to go after anyone to intimidate them. Sweetin doesn't. Sad but true.

Plus I doubt they get residuals from Full House anymore. Does anyone know for sure?

I think tht celebrities get in trouble (partying, drunk, whatever) because they aren't tht popular on tv anymore, so they do tht stuff to get attention. Maybe not, but thts how i think of it.
